The door vanished abruptly from the sniper's view, and a subconscious agent stepped forward to inspect. He took off his clothes, only to find no trace of the door, as if it had never existed. However, his heart raced, unsettled by the inexplicable occurrence.
Everyone exchanged puzzled glances, and Jestner spoke solemnly. "In the future, don't provoke him without my order. Send him back to see if he can figure out this magical method. The rest, follow me to the previous school to investigate the cause of the explosion!"
After the command was issued, Jestner swiftly led the team to delve into the explosion's origin, leaving the two agents with the bewildered agent in the car, ready to take him back.
Where did he come from? Where was he going back to?
The two agents sped back to the former Mutant placement center without any hitches. Upon their return, they were instructed to remove the body. Walking and whispering, the two agents discussed the peculiarities of the Sacred Gate.
"This Sacred Gate is too abnormal. I've never encountered a Mutant like him. Making a park and a building disappear, and opening a door directly on a person to extract the heart! Did you see it just now? The sniper's bullet clearly hit him on the forehead, but a door appeared, and the bullet vanished upon impact, causing him no harm at all!"
"Absolutely. Let's be cautious and avoid any contact."
"That might not be necessary. Isn't that guy locked up here? What's he going to do if the gods find out?"
"Don't worry, there's a plan. If he dares to appear in the cell for less than three seconds, he'll be unconscious. What's there to fear then? Our captain really despises Mutants."
"Can you blame him? The explosion on July 15 made the captain lose his daughter. I heard it was caused by a Mutant—a Mutant who could blow himself up!"
"Blow himself up? Isn't he dead after the explosion?"
"Who knows."
The two agents were about to exit the corridor, conversing in hushed tones, but froze upon reaching the corridor's corner.
"Oh my God..."
"God!"
"Why are you..." The two agents were dumbfounded, their voices trembling with horror as they saw Max. They never expected to encounter him here. He... he came with them?
The two agents reacted swiftly, realizing that Max had tracked them back to this location. Why did he return here? Perhaps, it was to lead them to the dead agent, a calculated move from the start.
Such meticulous planning was unsettling, wasn't it?
"Don't be so tense. Didn't Jestner make it clear? Don't provoke me without his orders. Your job is to cooperate and tell me where Lorna is held."
"After all, dying like this is rather pointless, isn't it?"
Max smiled at them, and the two agents exchanged glances before nodding.
"Smart choice, lead the way!"
The agents took the lead, guiding Max to Lorna's cell. They even volunteered to unlock the door.
"That's it."
Afterwards, the two agents stepped aside, speaking in hushed tones.
"Open the door, open the door. Once he steps inside, he'll fall into a coma! Capturing a god should be a great accomplishment, right?" The agents tried to contain their excitement, anticipating the successful capture.
Seeing Max about to push the door, their hearts raced with tension.
"Double doors, open!"
Max touched the cell door but instead of pushing it open, he created a door on the cell door.
Lorna, surprised, looked towards them. "Why? How is this possible?"
"He could have entered by just opening the door, yet he didn't. He effortlessly created a door without any extra effort?"
The two agents were left dumbfounded, not expecting such a move.
"Max?" Lorna exclaimed upon seeing him and rushed out excitedly. "How did you get here?"
"To help you," Max replied with a smile. Suddenly, he reached out, grabbed the two agents, and tossed them into the cell.
As the two agents were thrown in, smoke filled the cell. Observing the agents attempting to escape the effects of the gas while holding Roar, Max smiled, easily closing and locking the door. Even if Max hadn't overheard their conversation, his approach wouldn't have been to rush in directly.
"Let's go!"
Max waved his hand, creating a door in the air, and walked in with Lorna.
In a distinct dimension, Lorna queried Max as they walked, "How did you find your way here?"
"You might want to start by telling me how you got captured in the first place," Max replied. Despite Lorna not possessing the same level of strength as Magneto, it seemed unusual for her to be apprehended so easily.
Lorna shook her head, choosing silence.
"Let's head back first. John and Sonia are both concerned about you. By the way, what's the ability of the mutant you and John rescued this time?" Max inquired, choosing not to delve into the details when he first encountered Lorna.
"Her ability seems similar to yours. She can open portals. She escaped from the Mutant Placement Center on her own," Lorna revealed.
"Blink?"
The term that came to Max's mind was "Blink," reminiscent of the mutant with teleportation abilities. In the TV series, Lorna had been arrested for saving Blink, but it appeared that events had progressed significantly since then.
While Blink's teleportation ability resembled Max's, she could only open portals. Unlike Max, who had access to a different space through his unique door, Blink's power allowed for rapid teleportation.
Max had contemplated searching for Blink before but was uncertain about her whereabouts.
