Chapter 006
After coming back from the Police station, his mother was mostly silent.
Alex also didn't talk much and immediately went to his bed, too tired to even check up his system.
When he had woken up, his mother had apologized saying she was too harsh yesterday and how he had made her proud.
He even saw his father for the first time during breakfast.
His father had just come back early in the morning, having been doing overtime due to some project. Unlike his mother, his father was all smiles after hearing that Alex had fought with a criminal.
He praised him repeatedly, saying Alex resembled his grandfather who was a world war 2 veteran.
This, of course, irked his mother who argued that Alex would get more and more reckless if he kept praising him.
Despite the family drama, Alex's thoughts were filled with the events that had happened yesterday. The day was too strange for him to just accept normally.
That's why, after breakfast, he silently went back to his room and began to make sense of the stuff that he had found himself in.
'I found myself in the Marvel universe, got a system, met Uncle Ben, saved him from his fated death, got to know Spiderman and got a scolding from my mother. It sure was an eventful day!'
Leaving out how he had become the protagonist of a Marvel fanfic, which he can't really explain, Alex found it really strange that he had walked up to the same location where Uncle Ben was going to get murdered.
It was also at the exact time when he was contemplating on whether he wants to be a hero or not.
"It certainly can't be a coincidence..."
Alex muttered with a frown escaping his lips.
He knew that Spiderman lived in Queens too and there was still a chance for him to come across him or his family somehow.
But finding himself in the middle of the scene where Uncle Ben had died?
That was not something that Alex was gonna shrug off as a coincidence but at the same time, he didn't have any clue about it.
His best guess was that whichever entity or god had transmigrated him to this world was doing all this? He didn't know the reason, but Alex didn't feel like he would be able to get a normal life easily.
'So, it seems like my best bet is to just become stronger. Maybe I will get to the bottom of all this later.'
Alex decided to stop thinking about it.
Anyway, rather than thinking about stuff he didn't have an answer for, it was more efficient to think about what he was gonna do next.
After all, he had chosen the hero path now.
[Do you want to check your status? Y/N]
The prompt was flashing in front of him since evening and Alex felt really excited to see what powers he had gotten. At the same time, he was scared that the powers won't be something good enough.
'I hope they at least help me survive this world.'
He took a breath to calm himself down and opened his status.
A white light flashed in front of him before it took the form of a blue holographic screen, covered with nice lettering and numbers.

___
"Wow!"
Alex exclaimed as his status screen was opened up in front of him.
It was way bigger than he had thought and it was divided into three parts; Stats, Skills and Soul companion.
The first two were something that Alex was familiar with due to video game knowledge but the last one caught his attention.
Soul companion? It sounded like one of those pet options that one can have in a standard MMORPG.
'It sure is interesting.'
Alex mulled over his status screen.
First were the stats.
Like a standard system, he has six types of stats and they were easy enough for Alex to not need an explanation. It seemed like the average stat of a normal person was 10 and he has more than that in each of his stats.
The only stat missing from a standard MMORPG would be mana or magic power but Alex wasn't sure if mana even existed in the Marvel universe.
Maybe it did, but he had no clue about it.
Anyway, he was happy with all his stats but the bonus stats in the brackets gave him more joy.
He remembered getting a prompt about his stats getting a modification and it was probably that.
Moving on, Alex looked at his skills.
'Bullet time is probably the skill I activated to save Uncle Ben. It's probably something that will let me act like Neo from The Matrix. And Flexibility looks like a passive skill that would help me in battles and moving around...'
Pondering over his stats, Alex had lots of thoughts.
He was also happy that they were good enough skills for him to be able to survive as a hero. Bullet time was a life saving skill and Flexibility would let him stand his ground during fights better.
Moreover, it also solved one of his worries.
Alex can't fly nor does he have any sort of a vehicle to reach a crime scene. Spiderman can use his webs to move around and Iron Man has his armour, but he had nothing.
He can't just run to a crime crime.
It would be inefficient, embarrassing and a waste of time. Now with Flexibility, he can at least use the buildings to his advantage and run through them.
Kinda like how Black cat operate?
'Now, the only ones that are left is soul companion and... What is this?'
As he was having to check the soul companion part, his vision stopped at the words that hadn't caught his attention before.
"Hero points? What is this?"
The words confused Alex for the first time as he knew about the other things one way or another but he had no idea about what hero points were or what they can do.
As he was wondering about it, the screen in front of him changed and information about hero points got displayed.
[You will get hero points every time you perform a heroic deed. The points will vary due to the consequences of your action on the universe and other aspects. You can use the hero points to buy stuff in the hero shop currently. As you grow stronger, more abilities of the hero points will be revealed.]
'Hero shop?'
The space again changed as Alex thought that.
He was not even remotely surprised this time, already gotten used to his law defying system.
A prompt with 10 fist sized spaces appeared with long height and shorter breadth. There were a lot of pictures inside the fist sized spaces.
All sorts of items with price tags were displayed in it.
"Wow!"
One more chap at around reset. Thanks for all the comments.
