บท 23: Ch-23 Instant Kill!
The moment Jhonny heard the voice behind him, he saw Pyro and Sabretooth in the distance, both looking behind him.
It was obvious that their target this time was the other guy!
He turned around to see that the person coming out of the cave was the guy who had looked at his face earlier!
Jhonny blurted out:
"You have a girlfriend in the void?"
"You're not gay?"
"No?"
"Are they waiting for you?"
As he walked by, Russell looked at him calmly:
"None of your business."
This time Jhonny didn't curse, but said happily:
"So that crazy woman got her eye on you, pretty boy."
"Hahaha, I'm safe."
As he said that, he winked and added:
"I hear this crazy woman is very perverted and likes to do things to people. I wonder if your little body can handle that, brother."
"But if you're afraid, you can hire me to fight for you. A case of the cheapest wine will do."
'You're actually upset that the person waiting on the other side isn't you.' Russell didn't say it out loud.
After giving the guy a serious look, he said nicely:
"Are you hurry to reach home, Flame Boy."
"There's someone over there who is a natural opponent for you, don't you know?"
Flame Boy... Jhonny's eyes widened and his blood pressure rose.
"Back then, Dr. Doom couldn't beat me, Silver Surfer was even defeated by me, and Galactus called me Daddy!"
"Who's a match for me?"
"Now I'll tell you why my nickname is 'Hellfire'!"
'Aren't you the Human Torch? When did you get that nickname? And stop bragging, okay? Any of these guys can actually beat you to death!'
Russell was speechless.
But before he could speak, he saw the Jhonny throw the can he was holding to the ground with a snap and yell:
"FLAME ON!!!"
As he said his line, flames engulfed his entire body and he flew with a whoosh toward Sabretooth and the others in the distance!
Very impressive!
"But I still like the way you say 'Avengers Assemble' better."
Russell muttered, put down the things he was carrying and followed him outside.
He was afraid that if he moved too slowly, this guy would end up getting beaten to death.
Sure enough, as soon as he stepped out of the mine, he saw the Human Torch, missing a brain cell or two, hovering in the air, spewing flames, only to be sucked in by the Pyro.
With a bang, he fell straight to the ground, and it hurt just to watch.
But this guy wasn't dead. His face contorted in pain, he turned his head and said:
"Brother, help me!"
"Not even your father can save you!"
Toad laughed darkly, suddenly opened his mouth, and shot out his saliva-covered tongue, aiming at Human Torch.
But a purple web was faster!
The toad snapped its tongue back and ate a mouthful of dirt.
Looking over at his rescuer, Jhonny grinned and said:
"Thanks, buddy, I'll buy you a drink when I'm free."
Jhonny climbed up, then apologized:
"I just wasn't paying attention. If I had used a flame jet, I would have crushed him with a rocket headbutt!"
"So it's not that he countered me, it's that I chose the wrong tactic."
"I'll definitely win next time!"
Russell rolled his eyes.
Truly stubborn.
Suddenly, a slow clap echoed through the air!
Fireman smiled and clapped:
"Jamie's right, you are Spider-Man."
"Tsk tsk, a rare find in the void."
Russell was not surprised that he had been targeted on this trip to the black market.
The guy who had died was only a clone; the original body would naturally cause him trouble after he recovered his memory.
Earlier in the Trading Hall, he'd felt someone watching him with malicious intent.
He knew it had to be the mutants who had come to ambush him.
But what surprised him was how openly they were blocking the mine entrance, seemingly unconcerned with the rules of the black market.
Russell figured that either this group didn't know about the entity behind the black market, or he would have to reevaluate that entity as it might not be what he first thought.
Either way, this fight was inevitable.
"Who goes first?"
Pyro said calmly, as if Spider-Man was no big deal.
"Roar!"
Sabretooth jumped out of the car with a loud thud and gave Russell a twisted grin:
"I'll take care of this!"
"Tiger eats spider, easy!"
The Human Torch swallowed, looked at Russell and whispered:
"Bro, you're Spider-Man."
"These guys don't follow any code of honor. This terrain puts us at a disadvantage. Why don't we retreat to the black market?"
Russell patted Jhonny on the shoulder, his voice full of confidence:
"Don't worry, I'm the Spider-Man mutated by Captain America."
"Watch me rip his head off."
'How are you better at bragging than me.' Jhonny looked doubtful.
But this guy is really loyal. Even with his energy drained by Pyro, he still stood there, refusing to retreat to the market.
"Roar!"
Sabretooth growled, his fingernails quickly extending into sharp claws!
Then he charged forward!
Russell, on the other hand, slowly approached him, seemingly vulnerable all over.
The next second, the two were about to collide!
Just as Jhonny thought his new friend was about to be skewered.
Suddenly, he saw Spider-Man quickly dodge the attack!
At the same time, Russell grabbed Sabretooth's razor-sharp right claw with both hands and crushed it, driving it straight through Sabretooth's neck!
Thud!
Sabretooth stumbled two more steps and fell to his knees.
His head hung by a mere strip of skin, blood spurting from his neck!
Instant death!
The scene was deadly silent!
It seemed no one had expected this outcome!
Then a laugh broke the silence:
"Who's next?"
