He drew in a breath, pulled out his shirt, and tucked those files into the back of his jeans, then checked his watch. The nurse had been gone for more than forty-five minutes, and he couldn’t take the chance she’d return and find him away from his charges.

He hurried back to the nursery. Fortunately, the babies were only just then starting to stir, and he pressed the buzzer that would summon the nurse.

Only it wasn’t the nurse who came into the nursery, but Ridley, pointing a very large gun at him.

“What the fuck are you doing here, Trip? What the fuck were you doing in the laboratory?”

Shit. How did Ridley know that? Trip thought he’d been so careful.
