Fwip-!
"Boring…" I said before leaning backwards to avoid the shurikens from a ninja looking bandit, before getting down for a leg sweep.
Crack-!
A sweet sound echoed out as I saw bits of armor fall off from the ninja bandit's calf.
"Didn't expect this huh!" The fat guy carrying a shovel said before digging into the ground and using his tool to throw dirt on me.
"That's just stupid, you're better off doing it by hand, it'll be much faster." I commented and jumped up performing a spinning kick to his chin.
TANG-!
"At least you're using your brain…" I said with a faint smile as I saw him using his shovel to guard. His legs buckled as he tried to hold on but failed as his form visibly collapsed. If I wasn't holding back right now, he would've been smashed to paste by this kick.
"No need for unnecessary bloodshed." I said to seemingly no one before leaping back to dodge an arrow from the crossbow.
"You got anything better to say!" The least guy yelled before charging at me and performing a back kick from my side.
Thump-!
I caught it with an uninterested look before letting out a yawn.
"RRREAAAAHHHH!" The ninja yelled out for a power up and threw the same shurikens at me now coated in a small tendril of element.
"SHUT UP!" I smacked it away with my bare hands and struck his neck to knock him out unconscious. The other bandits tensed up which was weird to me.
'Why didn't they notice the difference in out levels before they were down one man? I definitely showed them how strong I am…'
I dodged the arrows and gave the marksman a clean uppercut lifting him a few inched above ground. The sweet sound of bones cracking created a small feeling of satisfaction in me.
Before the fat shovel using guy could react I threw the marksman's body towards him.
"Human reflexes are deeper than you think." I slid down under him and put him on a chokehold.
It was a reflexive action to focus on something coming at you from above. If you don't feel any threat from it, you'd try to catch it.
By the time he realized I was behind him, it was too late and he was out like the rest of his friends.
"I want to try my vision."
[That'd be an overkill]
*Sigh*
"I know."
I took out a rope from the special pouch gifted by Lumine and tied them up.
"She's weirder than everyone else out here."
[Lumine, sir?]
"Yep, dull swords that seems unbreakable for now, a pouch with infinite space, isolated form the constraints of time, some weird panel that flows in front of her for her to see her level and also see other's."
[Isn't that a good thing? Without her inspect skill, we would've never been able to know your level.]
"The skill inspects us using her state as a reference."
[That is how everyone else measures strength, sir]
"Still…"
[I believe it is time for you to returns sir.]
"Hmm… something wrong?"
[The tesseract is starting to radiate gamma waves at an abnormal rate.]
"Eh?...Wait…so it's…working"
[That is the most likely scenario]
"If making a portal is the most likely, what's the unlikely scenario?"
[It is in sync with out portal and using the connection to open a gateway to this world, however our portal cannot bear the overload of synching so New york will go nuclear…]
"…Please tell me that was a joke…"
[…]
"…Tch, I guess it's my mess so I'll help out this once."
I muttered and opened the portal to head back.
The perfectly circular portal in stark contrast to my usual jagged rectangle portal made me groan in frustration.
_______________
"Welcome baaack pudding!" Harleen greeted me while wearing an apron over her bare skin, her hair was tied to a bun and some powder was smudged on it.
I chuckled and gently patted her hair before pulling her into a passionate kiss.
"Ummmp!" She crossed her legs around my waist as I picked her up and held onto my neck as if devoured her, before finally breaking it.
"Haah... What's wrong? You seem tired babe." Her cherry voice faded, now laced with a tone of concern.
In response, I caressed her neck and pulled her closed before heading towards my room.
[I'll give you two some private time]
Veritas transferred himself into a nearby android and headed towards the observatory.
{160 Minutes later}
After a pleasant time with Harleen I put on my coat and hopped on the jet to head to new York.
"What's the status veritas?"
[It is close to activating…now at 92%]
"Full speed to shield then.."
[As you wish]
"Did nick ask anyone else to be on standby?"
"Hawkeye is keeping watch but I'd rather not put my faith in him]
"You have faith?" I asked in mild shock as we flew past the Antarctic, now above the south Atlantic Ocean.
[I do, but not in him]
"Who is it?"
[You, sir]
"Aww that's sweet!"
[97% sir]
"Can this thing go any faster?"
[We are at maximum speed. Would you like to make a portal to that place?]
"And increase the synchronization? No thanks."
[Very well then.]
With those last words we got ready to finally reveal our cards that we'd racked him over the years in this world.
'NICK is going to be a pain in my arse form now on..'
[Entering the North Atlantic Ocean]
"Well then….time to save the world"
[Or make a fool out of ourselves, acting cringe due to hero syndrome]
"HEY! BE OMPTIMISTIC!"
