Alea was attacking one-sidedly until now, but right now she is being pushed back completely. Of course she would be. The fire clad around my sword has the ability to ignite the mana of others.
Receiving the attacks of or even defending against the blade clad in fire would ignite Alea. On top of that, I have poured a certain degree of mana on both arms in order to harden them.
Alea has low proficiency, so she is maintaining a high degree of hardness by forcefully outputting large amounts of mana. However, that is instead increasing the risk here. It is basically like fighting while pouring kerosene all over your body.
Even so, if she were to reduce the mana and push it back, her physical specs and defense will drop sharply and she will be beaten to death with pure physical violence.
That would be the case…..if she were alone….
I imploded an air bubble to forcefully change my trajectory and swing at Eric's legs who was creeping up behind me.
Clap—!
A singular clap rang out from the fifth cadet Jennifer and I saw the remaining two cadets harden their grip.
"That's a good strategy, I'll admit it."
"Hah…..I'm flattered!"
Alea immediately switched to the offensive by hardening her thorn whip and swung at me.
The downward swing wasn't meant to hit but to spread.
Shik—!!
The hard whip split into five thinner branches and attacked in a 120-degree angle. It was meant to forcefully change my position closer to Eric waiting for me with a charged attack.
Clap—!
"That's really annoying."
"Thank you, you can go to hell!"
The non-combatant, Jennifer spoke up as I commented on her clapping.
Their strategy was simple, use my diverse style against me.
The greatest threat I posed in the battlefield was my unpredictability, I could switch from martial art to sword and then to magic with close to no delays.
The moment, my opponent adapted to my style, I'd change into a completely different one, catching them off guard.
The battle was growing in intensity…
From punches and kicks, to magic and a seamless transition to swords….I became a huge obstacle for them despite my young age and Red stage core.
But the clap acted as a countermeasure for that.
Although I could erase that, I still acted like an incredibly whimsical person who changes tone, style, and even moods. However, I left habits right before switching.
The change in battle style also has its own signs. This one alone is hard to feel on the surface. However, Jennifer was done with her observations. Reading the atmosphere of the other party isn't so difficult compared to reading their mind.
Even so, telling them out loud would be dangerous. Her reflexes are slow so it could cause confusion. Thus, the hand claps.
She been imprinting that into her teammates unconsciously. The moment she feet a sign of change, she'd clap her hands. And then, the movements of mine would change.
I regained my balance and performed a leg sweep under the teenage lance, bute her attackas were beginning to connect.
Looks like she not only learned the switch of styles, but can predict some of the styles that will be coming…
"But you see, it's a flaw I created deliberately…"
If you're opponents are reliant on your telltale signs, use it against them.
I summersaulted to avoid the whip closing in on my neck and the sword lunge to my heart, and pulled on the whip to break their flow.
"Bind"
The air quite literally got heavier as more air encapsulated them.
"Too much oxygen can slow down your breathing to a dangerous level and cause oxygen poisoning."
Thud—!
They didn't even have time to realize their disorientation when I pulled on the whip once again and punched her in the chin.
Truk-!
Oooof…..I think I dislocated her jaw…
Poor girl…..anyways….
With their main combatant out of commission, they others were pretty easy to deal with.
"Go to sleep, jennifer."
"ACK!"

"It's really unfair, you know. Disregarding the fact that you're younger than me and that you have a red core while I'm at orange. How do you even awaken to become a Quadra elemental? Where's the fairness in that!?"
Alea spoke while chewing a beef jerky. The others had gone back to sleep while me and her decided to take a stroll outside.
"I'm just favored by the heavens."
I heard a scoff in response but no attempt to refute it…
'I suppose, she's disheartened right now after her constant failures to defeat me.'
"Alea…..you shouldn't be like that."
"What do you know!?"
"I know that you'd be the most likely person to rank second, had I not joined this project."
"..."
"Or maybe third, I can't tell who'd win between you and Aya."
I dodged the smack incoming form behind and hugged her in order to restrain her movements.
"Let me….GO!"
She scrambled to get out…..or that's what it seemed at first glance.
"You think I can't see you burying yourself deeper?" I spoke with my eyebrows raised.
Yes, my eyebrows grew back….
The same couldn't be said about Jennifer's eyebrows though....fuck that bitch!
Nasty girl with a six-foot forehead….
Why does she get to order me around for an hour just because she won a bet at the school cafeteria while playing UNO!?
"Hey….you're thinking about someone else right?"
I heard a cold voice, sending a small chill up my spine.
Eh?....No wait, I'm actually feeling my heart get colder!
"You shouldn't do that andrew~ I'd feel left out if you do it." Alea was now looking straight at me while hugging me a little tighter.
"You know the relation we have right?"
"Err…..yes?...No? I don't know if we're on the same page Alea…."
I swear I saw her eyes go dark right now.
Like yes, I know Virion meant her when he suggested a closer relationship, but I didn't expect her to agree to be my fiancé.
Next thing I know, I'm engaged! To Alea Triscan.
It was rushed…to an absurd degree.
I remember her ignoring me the first time I met her.
She seemed focused on serving her kingdom. It was weird how patriotic a teenager like her was, but I planned to ignore it.
Unfortunately, by girlfriend Alvitr was adamant about changing her views, give her a bigger purpose in life and all that sentimental shit….
Now, I didn't have a motivation for becoming a mentor, but that is how it ended up.
What I didn't expect was Alea putting all her values on me.
How does a teenager get so dependent on a kid younger than her just because he took her outside for a tour around the city and ate kebabs with?
Is doing that enough to develop a crush?
The answer I got was….
[What are you whining about? After taking care of her for a three months straight? Just be a man and suck it up!]
Um, excuse me? Since when did I agree to get a harem?
[Harem is a must for my boyfriend!]
That was when I made a note for myself to never trust this dumb girl again for relationship advice….
But I guess she grew on me at some point…
"You're thinking about that girl right?"
'....scary'
