บท 4: Chapter 4: Information
He alighted from the car once he arrived and wasted no time as he walked towards the magnificent apartment.
"Good evening Mr. Rhodes. Here is the information you asked for."said his secretary,who had already arrived and was waiting for his master, once his boss stepped in and walked closer to him.
"What did you find about her." Asked Lucius.
Just when Levi Arthur, Lucius' secretary who has served him ever since Lucius had took over the company and is still with him because of his loyalty and honesty to him, was about to speak, Devyn, Lucius goofy childhood friend whom had stuck to him when he, also entered saying,
"Dude what happened? I saw your text and hurried over. What happened?"
"My parents got me a bride." Replied Lucius.
"They did what!!?" Exclaimed Devyn.
While Levi also stood there dumbfounded as he could not believe what was just said by his boss.
"You heard right. I got home today and my parents called me into the study saying they wanted to discuss something with me. I got there just for them to tell me that they found me a bride saying my grandparents were questioning them about my love life and were threatening to take all my inheritance from me if I keep up with being single so they found me a bride who according to them is a good girl who is beautiful, very intelligent, a good cook and overall a good wife." Explained Lucius who had already poured himself and the other two glasses of wine and had already finished his glass and was pouring himself another one.
"Wait, how did all this come about? You have told me that they want you to get married but have never told that they were looking for one for you. When did all these turn up?"
"Do you remember that we were planning to expand our business by buying more plots of land?" Lucius asked Devyn and continued after getting a nod from him saying,
"Well, it turns out that her family's vineyard was on those plots of land so my parents said they would go and negotiate with them for their vineyard but they refused saying it was a business that their ancestors started so they couldn't sell it but my parents persisted and after being turned down on many occasions, they started to use underground methods which almost made their business bankrupt. They found out that it was the doing of my parents and went there offering to my parents anything but the lands. It so happens that when they went there to negotiate, they met Zelma and like her so they discussed and asked for her to marry me to keep their family vineyard and they readily accepted."
"That's weird, why would they readily give her to you like that? She's their daughter, isn't it?" Asked Devyn sensing something fishy about what his friend just said.
" I don't know either. I think there is something hideous behind this." Said Lucius right before the room was engulfed in silence.
"Oh my! Dude, what are you going to do about it? You can't just marry a stranger. From the looks of things, you haven't even met her let alone talked to her to find out more about her and what type of girl she is so how are you going to marry her when you know nothing about her?" Said Devyn breaking the silence in the room, trying to reason with his friend.
"Well I have no other choice but to agree to the marriage because my inheritance is at risk. If I don't marry her, all my inheritance would be given to my second uncle's son which means means everything I invested into the company would come crumbling down on me and I can't let that happen." Said Lucius looking straight at the people who stood dumbfounded before him.
"Oh. Then do you at least know anything about her?" Asked Devyn.
"Just that her name is Zelma Montgomery. That's why Levi is here, to give me information about her." Said Lucius beckoning Levi to speak.
"As you know, her name is Zelma Montgomery." Levi started.
"She is a 23 year old. She lives in the Montgomery house with her parents and is currently in university majoring in civil engineering and has a few months left to write the final exams and graduate. She is currently the top student in her school. She has won several quizzes she particular in in the post few years. She ...."
After a few hours of reading out the information, Levi ended.
"Do you have any pictures of her?" asked Lucius eager to see the girl who had such an unsoiled background.
Just then Levi pulled out a few pictures of Zelma which got a gasp out of Devyn,
"Lucifer, you just hit thae jackpot. Now you're just making me think that you have poor taste in women. How can you even complain when you are marrying this gorgeous lady!? How can such a beauty even exist on this earth!?" Exclaimed Devyn after snatching the picture from Levi to take the first look at Zelma even before Lucius could reach out for the picture.
"What do you mean by that? Don't tell me you have joined them too?" Asked Lucius who was still looking at his friend whose eyes were glue to the picture he badly want to look at.
"Let me have a look at that!" Said Lucius finally running out of patience and snatching the picture.
