"You will not mess up my plans, Maeve! All you have to do is care for the baby!" Joe's voice grew louder, his aura darkening as he used it to loom over her, a clear threat. Maeve clenched her fists, barely managing to nod as she watched him leave.

Her mind whirred with thoughts, dark and dangerous. Even if she became Luna, it was clear that Joe would never allow her to wield real power. She had been a fool to think otherwise. The realization sent a chill down her spine. "Do I have to kill him too?" she wondered, knowing that if she didn't find a stronger ally soon, her pregnancy could become a weakness that others would use against her.

As she considered her options, one name came to mind: the twisted witch she had encountered before. If Maeve could offer the witch something valuable, she might gain a powerful ally. The memory of the magic the witch had wielded intrigued her.
