CHAPTER 5
Ade slowly stopped the car when they'd reached the front of the building where they would be staying. Then she looked at the rearview mirror. She saw that Max stopped his car also behind them. She glanced beside her, but Aurora wasn't moving, even if they'd already halted. Her head was leaning at the headrest, and she was facing the window.
"Signorina." She called her in a low tone, but there was no response, and she wasn't moving. It seemed like she fell asleep because of exhaustion. She didn't attempt to wake her anymore. Ade slowly moved to remove her seatbelt and stepped outside.
Max hopped out of his car. There were people looking at them. Whispers started to arise around. Max looked up the entire building. Ade walked up to him as he sauntered towards their car. He noticed that Aurora didn't get off the car.
"She fell asleep, signorino." Her head was tilted up, saying that to him.
"Just call me 'Max.' You don't work for me." He said because he felt uncomfortable when she called him that when she doesn't work for them, especially to him.
Ade shook her head. "No. I think it's just right to address you 'signorino', and besides, I like calling you by it." Her smile was convincing, but there was a hint of stubbornness.
"Fine. Suit yourself." He grumbled.
"Maya nalang natin siya gisingin, signorino. Tayo nalang maghakot ng gamit. Okay lang ba?" 'Let's wake her up later, signorino. We can load the things first. Is it okay?' He was still amused at how she can fluently speak in Tagalog. She even got the right accent.
"How about I'll carry her first to your dorm room para makapagpahinga na siya ng maayos?" 'So that she can rest comfortably?' He suggested.
"Sure. I'll get our room key first." She instantly agreed and was almost skipping when she sauntered back to the car and opened the driver side.
What did I say? He shook his head in her enthusiasm.
"I got her things." She showed him Aurora's phone and pouch. "I'll go inside first, signorino, to inform the receptionist."
He nodded, and she turned around to walk inside the building. He approached the passenger side of their car and opened the door gradually. He was met by Aurora's face. Her eyes were closed, and she was leaning at the headrest. He was a bit hesitant, for he might wake her up if he touched her.
He didn't mean to stare, but her angelic face was too attractive. She turned into a very fine young lady. It was a year ago when he last saw her. She gets prettier every time he sees her. His childhood friend was now a young adult woman.
Max crouched down and entered half of his body inside to remove her seatbelt. But before he could reach for it, he paused as her head moved, and when he looked at her, their faces were just a few inches away.
Her sweet scent that wasn't aggressive to his senses made him feel lightheaded. She had that perfect glass skin also with no open pores. Long and dark eyelashes that he knew were natural because even before, he noticed that she wasn't fond of putting on heavy make-up. And he just realized that there were tiny, almost unrecognizable freckles spread on the top of her cute button nose that he had an urge to pinch. And his eyes landed on her tempting lip. That heart-shaped lips looked so soft and sweet. He wanted to find out if it's as delectable as it seemed.
He shook his head to clear his mind. This was such a wrong idea. He proceeded in reaching for her seatbelt in the center. Her breath was fanning his neck. He can hear his breathing also. His body felt hot, and his heart beat faster. He finally touched the lock and pressed it.
Aurora smelled a familiar scent. She gradually opened her eyes as she felt a presence in front of her. "Sto sognando?" 'Am I dreaming?' Her eyes were still half closed. The scent was of Max's, and he was hovering over her. He had a hand on the top of her headrest.
After Max pressed the seatbelt lock, he stilled when he heard her. He may have woken her up. "No." He answered and turned to her face that was tilted up to him. Her eyes were still half-closed in sleepiness.
He was about to move out to distance himself from her when she spoke again. "It better not be." Then she instantly pulled his nape, closing the distance between their faces, and collided her lips with his.
A second before he recovered from the shock, and damn! His eyes closed automatically. Her lips were softer than he imagined. This was so wrong. But her sweet and delectable lips were just too good to stop himself. So he had his other hand at the back of her head to respond to her kisses. He bit her lower lip teasingly until she opened it up to him. He won't pass up the chance of tasting the inside of her mouth. He heard her moan, and that made him feel hotter as his body grew rigid. And she let him explore his tongue inside, dancing with hers. Her taste was too sinful to resist.
"EHI! Prendi una stanza!" 'Hey! Get a room!' Yelled by someone across the building.
And that voice was like a bucket full of freezing water that had been thrown at them. They were shaken. Everything happened too suddenly. They let go of each other.
Max stood up straight. He cleared his throat and exhaled. The heat was gone. Dang it! That was a huge mistake. He palmed his face and bit his tongue to refrain from cursing and shook his head to clear his mind. She made him feel drunk.
Aurora immediately composed herself and glanced at the compact mirror to check her appearance.
Max took a step back when Aurora put one leg down on the ground. She was wearing her sunglasses when she stood up properly.
She smiled at the group of guys that were sitting on the bench. The voice earlier was from them.
"Buon pomeriggio, signori." 'Good afternoon, gentlemen.' She doesn't want to feel embarrassed by what happened so she appeared confident.
The guys nodded at her and greeted back with grin on their faces.
There were other people around that scoffed at her and the others started to gossip. There were benches at the sidewalk too that anyone can hang around.
She looked at Max's car that was behind hers. A Lamborghini, one of the newest models. That's why they gather more attention. She turned to him. She felt that he was awkward from what happened. "Where's Ade?"
"Waiting at the lobby." He tilted his head to the building's entrance. "I was about to carry you to your room but you woke up."
She noticed that he was trying to avert her gaze. Her lips curled into a smile. "I see." That's why he was in front of her earlier.
"Signorina!" Ade called while pushing a bellman's trolley. She guided it outside of the building to the side of Aurora's car. "I saw you were already standing so I proceeded to push this out."
"Shall we start? They're slightly heavy." Aurora said to Max.
He nodded and stepped into the back of her car. He opened the trunk to unload the luggage there.
"Signorina, here." Ade handed her pouch and phone, also a sealed envelope. It's what she left with the receptionist earlier.
"Grazie." Thank you. She mumbled to her friend as she accepted the things. Ade helped Max by holding steady the trolley as he was loading the luggage on its platform.
Aurora opened the roof of the car next when they were done with the trunk. There were eyes thrown on their direction, especially to their cars.
Max started lifting the boxes slowly. "What are these?" He asked when he heaved one of the weighty boxes.
"There were three sewing machines there. Please be careful, signorino." Ade replied.
Aurora let the two and she opened the sealed envelope. She read their schedules for the first semester. They have some the same schedules but all in different subjects because they don't have the same degree. She's in Business Economics, same with Max before. He just graduated with it and he proceeded to take a second degree in business still. Max was three years older than her. Ade took Fashion and Culture.
"Eh, Max! Finalmente hai una ragazza? E' una matricola?" 'Yow, Max! Finally got a girlfriend? Is she a freshman?' Aurora glanced at the guy who called Max's attention. It was a good thing then that she was wearing her sunglasses. The guy approached Max. He's in a jogging attire and had a muscular body. He was looking at Ade. He was referring to Ade as Max's girlfriend.
