"I know where your brother is."
Once Brie heard that she was startled. Except for her and Jaime, nobody else knew that she had a brother. Now some random guy who she never met before was telling her that he knew where her brother was. This made her even more guarded against him. I mean this had to be a scam. Was he trying to get to Jaime?
"Sorry but I don't have any brother are you sure you haven't mixed it up with someone else?"
This time it was Linri's turn to be dumbfounded. Since everything had gone right today he had become a little cocky and thought it would be easy to get her to tell where Jaime was just by baiting her but it seemed like it had backfired. I mean he had read countless novels and this was against the development. Normally when the reincarnated MC says something like this they would immediately help him. I mean yeah, he knew this was not a novel but still he would be lying if he didn't think that it would go exactly like that.
"Really? But Jaime told me she was searching for him. Anyway, the point is I need to find her. We were supposed to meet up today but she hasn't shown up and she is not picking up her phone either. I need to know where she stays to check up on her." said Linri. While talking he sounded desperate which was not a lie. He really was desperate to meet her. He needed to know if he was the only one transmigrated here.
Linri was going to say something else too but he looked towards the Old Nun that was standing right next to them. Since it was two kids talking she just assumed it was some kind of gibberish so didn't really pick up on anything yet. After all, Brie was an orphan so how could she have a brother. In her file, it was clearly stated that she was the last surviving member of her family. Maybe the white-haired kid was talking about someone else?
"Again I am so sorry but I have never met someone named Jaime so you really came to the wrong person." At this point, she was not going to say anything to him that much was obvious.
"Okay then! Your brother is in Autumnfall High school. I have done my part. Just know that if something happens to her it's on you!" Linri said agitatedly and turned back.
Even though what he said just now was a total bluff he was really angry with Brie right now. He knew that she was trying to protect Jaime on her own right but she didn't know the whole story. He decided that if something were to happen to his friend he was going to find trouble with this girl in front of him.
To Linri Brie was still a game character. If he had taken out of his anger on her he wouldn't really feel bad. I mean would you feel sad if you killed an NPC? He was still unconsciously rejecting the people of this world. If they were innocent people like Silfy he would feel bad about hurting them but if it was someone who hurt his IRL friends he wouldn't really mind taking out his frustrations from them. Lots of people take out their frustrations with violent games and this whole world was basically a game to him.
Just when Linri and Old Nun was about to go they heard a voice behind them.
"Wait!" Yes! she had taken the bait.
When Linri turned back he could see the hesitation in her eyes. Still, if he was too hasty the fish would getaway.
"You are not a bad person are you?" She asked with her puppy-like eyes.
"Look! I don't really have time to play around with you. I have done my part. If you are going to tell me, just do it! If not I am going to search for her old contacts. Unlike you, I am worried about her"
Linri was 100% bullshitting right now but he was not going to admit to that. He still knew other player characters he could contact to find Jaime in London. It was just that they were more troublesome to convince than Brie so if he didn't have to he didn't want to deal with any of them. He was too weak and if he stepped on to a mine during his conversation he would die so at that point he would just wait till Autumnfall started its school term to confirm his hypothesis.
Seeing the angry expression on Linri's face Brie started to become more and more hesitated. In the end, she made a decision and gave Linri a card.
"Here you can find her address in the back of this card but if anything happens to you I will bite you to death!" What???
"Fine, fine whatever you say little loli" said Linri and patted her head. At this point, she snapped and tried to bite him just like she said she would but Old Nun caught her from the collar. She was struggling but still couldn't get away from the hands of Sister Sharon.
"It seems like you haven't reflected enough on your mischievous behaviours yet Ms Alcatraz. Back to the detention room with you." and Old Nun dragged Brie back to the prayer room.
Brie was looking at Linri with hateful eyes as if she wanted to eat him alive but Linri just walked away as if this did not have anything to do with him. Actually, this had everything to do with him.
Brie was Autumnfall RP Club's official Goth loli mascot character. She also had a quirk where she would snap when people called her a loli since she had a height complex. He had learnt about this the hard way as there was a time when Max called Brie loli in the game and she beat the hell out of him.
Max was mostly confused about the situation so he hadn't understood what was going on back then until Linri had already fainted and in the infirmary. Later on, FireSpark had explained the situation in a PM while also apologising so that's how he knew about it.
I can see you asking why Linri would call him a loli when he knew about this. The reason is actually pretty simple, firstly because he wanted to get revenge for back then and for her doubting him right now. Still not good enough? Well, the real reason is actually Linri or rather Max being an extremely petty person. So if he could take little harmless acts of revenge like these why not? And more importantly, it felt damn good!
Once he got out of the orphanage Linri immediately checked the card. On the front it was saying 'Silver Blade Detective Agency' and in the back, there was an address. Huh, neat!
Linri checked his watch and there was still time till 19.30 If he got on the subway he could get there before 8 pm. So Linri did exactly just that.
The place he was at was one of the more dangerous areas of London. There were lots of pubs around so it was common to see drunkards on the street. Still, on the bright side, there was still some time before 10 pm when the real dangerous people appeared. The dark side of London if you might say. Come on! We are talking about a city that was made with the imaginations of edgy people. Did you really think there wasn't any serial killers or even vampires around? I mean think about it, even Max himself created the Werewolf race which was basically a murder machine so of course there were vampires around! To top it off most of them were vampires from the Victorian age. P.S the older a vampire is stronger they are...
Following the address, Linri arrived at an old run-down building. He went inside and immediately smelled something disgusting. Without wasting his time he quickly made his way upstairs and found the office. There was a 'closed' sign on top of the door.
Linri knocked on it a few times but there was no answer. So he started to get worried. Was she not around or was his hypothesis wrong?
"Hey, Alina! It's me, Max. Remember?" said Linri but there was still no answer. Linri started to feel uneasy. The corridor was dimly lit so he was starting to feel scared. With the knowledge he had about this city everything was looking scary.
Linri tried to open the door. Thankfully, it was not locked. This made Linri even more worried. He started to think about the worst-case scenarios. What if Spark was already dead? I mean if she transmigrated when Jaime was in a fight he could totally see this happening.
He slowly walked inside and heard some rustling to his left. When he turned around he saw a meter long katana coming straight to his face. Linri jumped sideways as if his life depended on it and ironically enough it really was.
"Wait Wait Wait Wait! Stop I didn't come here with-" before he could finish Jaime started to swing her sword again. Linri hadn't got up from the ground yet so he rolled to his right. This girl was god damn crazy!
"My name is Kasaix and I came to-" She was starting to swing her sword again but she stopped when she heard 'Kasaix'
"Wait, Kasaix?" Immediately afterwards she dropped her sword, hugged him in the ground and started crying.
Linri's face soured. Yep! Just like he thought. Awkward as hell.
