50% Lady Toni's Great Escape / Chapter 25: Tzigane, M. 76

บท 25: Tzigane, M. 76

I was feeling pretty good about myself. The stone bracelet was really convenient ah. Not to mention absurdly powerful. Just look at the effect it has. Who would have thought that the dead people lying there at the deck with blood tragically flowing from their faces was caused by a song for the violin? I'm rating this ancient artifact a ten out of ten. Worthy of a five star review.

I actually wanted to be a mere passing witness to the spectacle that just happened. I didn't plan to be there at all. It was only that sleep was eluding my pretty person so I figured why not play outside? I could practice my Wind Steps and experiment around with my bracelet.

So I stayed where I was, observing. You know, pretending I don't exist and enjoying the show low-key like a proper member of the peanut gallery. I even brought out some of my dried fruits and laver to eat. Popcorn wasn't a thing in this place for some reason. What a bummer. The situation was pretty interesting, at least to me. Yes! I'm exactly being a nosy gossipmonger. So what? Fight me!

I can't be blamed for that. Endless waters as far as the eyes can see was what greeted me every single morning up until I went to bed every single night. Who wouldn't get sick of it right? Whoever said that cruising was fun, come out here and receive my fist! Although, it might be just the fact that there were less variety of activities in a galleon ship compared to a cruise ship. Yeah. I guess I'm being a bit harsh.

Anyway, now that a source of entertainment was here, why should I hold myself back? Besides, the intruders had quite the sinister plan. I wouldn't have meddled and kept watching on if they only settled their business with the people concerned. Except they just had to ask for it. No zou, no die as the wise men said. I guess these men weren't the wisest.

I was languidly lounging at the view deck. I called it that because it seems fitting for the tallest portion of the ship having the best vantage point. It helped in taking in the breathtaking view that is the glorious waters of Atalenta Gulf.

I'm trolling.

It wasn't that great. Seen it every second the past week. Sunset was amazing though. Makes the water all glittery. The breeze was relaxing too.

It was near this very spot that five of the black-clothed people concealed themselves. And then merrily discussed their course of action. I silently ridiculed them for stupidly missing my presence. My brilliant mind forgot the fact that I was wearing a mask that diminishes my existence in the first place.

That aside, this meaningful discussion also conveniently divulged the identities of the musician couple I got glimpses of the past few days. They were the ones I often see chatting with Riley. I guessed they were friends of hers or something near to that. They caught my eye 'cause they were a pretty cute couple. I totally shipped them. My romance loving heart beat furiously for this type of CP.

The guy was super handsome. Almost at the same level as my beauty. Almost but not quite there. I was still superior.

Cough!

Cough!

The woman was the classic blonde hair and blue-eyed beauty. But she had a cold and serious air about her. She was graceful like a rare snow lotus. I dare say that she was the one wearing the pants in the relationship. It wasn't rare for me to see the woman smack the guy's face because he was getting all flirty or touchy in public. Says a lot about his personality. Sigh.

Still they had an undeniable harmony between them. Despite his often playful air, the man was conscious of the woman's every action. And he accommodates her even before she makes a move.

That's not all. The woman seemed to be unaware of it but her eyes always searched for him whenever they were apart. And a lot more little things. Basically, they've been unconsciously feeding me dog food these past few days. Honestly, it was a little unpleasant for a single dog like me but I don't hate it. Like I said. I totally ship them.

That aside, back to the pesky stowaways. I overheard them mention the woman being the lady of the Wilding Barony and betrothed of the Rosemond County. I know I'm supposed to know her. But what do you expect from a castaway of nobility? On the other hand the man was an Eashen person that some lady boss of the underworld was pursuing. The two of them actually eloped and were secretly married. Commendably gutsy of them. Hence, the relentless pursuit of the two parties they left behind.

Damn, their love story is so dramatic. What the heck? Is this some kind of love square? Turns out they were like me. Running away from the capital too. Ah, my kindred spirits!

Before I could completely recover from this flood of information though. One of the men said that they were ordered to kill all the people in the ship and raze it down to be lost forever at sea. This was so that there was no evidence about the couple ever trying to leave Resse. Or even being together at all.

Now that part didn't sit well with me. These people were being a bit too much. Aside from the fact that they were trying to separate a married couple which was a blasphemy to love. They even had the audacity to dare massacre uninvolved people.

I personally didn't have any plans to die just yet. And I also don't plan to let innocents die on my watch. I'm a responsible, law-abiding citizen alright?

I was about to make my move when the star of the show, the man in question, sent an attack to the hidden people near me. At the same time, an isolation barrier covered the entire deck. The barrier was quite impressive. It looked like the couple was not that easy to bully. The woman was almost half-step into the Magister level. While the man had a strange power. It wasn't magic but a different kind of energy. And he actually attacked using a guqin.

Lan Wangji is that you??

Anyway, his attack just reinforced my earlier idea. I didn't actually want to try this to real people but at this point, why not? I don't wanna show myself and fight hand-to-hand if I could help it. So I might as well make use of them as guinea pigs for testing my weapon control.

I was feeling the violin at the moment, so I willed the bracelet to transform into one. I selected one of my favorite pieces to play. Ravel's Tzigane, M. 76.

I held the bow a little awkwardly. It's been a long time since I practiced, after all. I calmed my head and tucked the violin underneath my chin.

I felt the surge of magical energy from my fingertips flowing through the instrument before spreading out in waves, riding the sound. Natural laws was infused in every note I played that they almost seemed tangible. At least to me. I found that I can control the areas that the waves could directly affect. So I had them wrap the intruders and avoid the couple.

I admit I kinda let myself go and got too immersed in the music. I didn't even know if I made mistakes or not. I was just vibing.

And what happened next is as you have read at the start of this chapter. I felt a little awkward so I scampered away quickly before the couple woke up from their reveries. After all, I was supposed to be just part of the peanut gallery.
