บท 14: Till death do us part

"Alright, Damien", his father agreed with him. "Damien, there's something your mum didn't tell you but I'll like to tell you", Mr. Joseph Carson continued.

Young Damien turned to his mum and looked at her suspiciously. His mother laughed for a while and asked, "I don't know what he's talking about".

"Mum, why are you hiding things from me?, aren't we besties?", Damien spoke childishly. He turned to his father and asked, "This doesn't make you my best friend, but what is it? ".

"Since, I ain't gonna be your best friend, I won't tell you anymore", his father said acting childish also. "Okay, okay, you will be my best friend, tell me please", he agreed and begged his father to tell him. "Are you sure??", his father asked. "Yes dad, tell me".

"Okay, well it's your Mum", he started. "What's wrong with her??", Young Damien asked his father then he turned to his mum looking suspiciously at her. "Mum, what's it??".

Emerald knew where her husband was going to, so she began to blush.

"She'll be having a baby!", Mr. Joseph announced happily.

Young Damien was so happy, he hugged his Mum. "Mum, is it true?, I'll be a big brother?", he asked happily. "Yes love, you'll soon be a big brother", she replied as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I thought this was supposed to make us besties", his father said trying to act jealous. "No dad, we aren't besties", he said and leaned over his Mum.

His mother couldn't stop herself from laughing. "Well, since we aren't gonna be bestie, your younger brother will be my best friend ", his father proclaimed. "Noooo, not younger brother, my younger sister", he was against his father's choice. "So, you want a sister not a brother?, that's so uncool, well it's gonna be a boy and he'll be my junior Joseph", his father protested.

"Mum, it's gonna be a girl, right?", young Damien asked as he caress his mother's hair. "I don't know, Damien, let's wait and see", she answered calmly.

Suddenly, a loud screeching noise from the tyres was heard and the car began to move very fast. "What's going on James??!!!", Joseph thundered at the driver. "I don't know, sir, the car is suddenly out of my control", the driver who was already panicking answered. "What do you mean?!!", Mrs. Emerald shouted. "Ma'am, I don't know what's wrong, I'm not moving the car, right now, you can see my hands", he tried to explain while he was shaking in fear.

Young Damien was now afraid, he asked in fear, "Mum, are we gonna die??".

"No, you aren't gonna die, sweet heart", she said while holding his cheek and hugged him because he was now crying.

Mr. Joseph was trying to open the car but he couldn't. The driver, James fainted. Although he fainted the car was still moving.

"I told you, you shouldn't have hired this coward", Emerald scolded. "That won't help now", Joseph said as he tried to hit the glasses of the window, which he couldn't. "Why don't we open the sun roof?", Emerald suggested. She went ahead to open it while Joseph tried to make a phone call. "Ohh my!!, pick the call you dimwits!!!!, the car will soon be heading to the express", Mr Joseph said while trying to reach someone on his phone.

Emerald successfully got the sun roof opened, then she turned to Young Damien, "Damien, this is the time for you to be brave, it's time for you to use your super skills, dear", she tried to persuade him but Young Damien was in tears and so afraid. "Shhh!!!!", she shouted at him while putting her finger on her lips. Immediately, he stopped crying and listened. "You aren't gonna die Damien, be brave!!!, didn't you tell me you will always be a brave boy, now you have to get out through the sun roof, when I say jump, you jump, you hear me??!", she instructed him.

All Joseph's effort were just in vain, so he pulled young Damien up, Young Damien was able to climb out of the car and this time he wasn't crying but was still scared. "We'll be fine but remember what I said Damien, be brave!!!", Emerald said to her son.

"Now Jump!!!!", they chorused. Damien jumped. They immediately turned to see their son, who had jumped out of the car, it seemed he had injured his leg but they were happy and were relieved that he wasn't in the car.

They had forgotten the car was heading to an express, they turned to the front when they heard a loud noise of a truck approaching. Joseph tried to control the steering wheel but his efforts was still in vain. He gave up and threw his body on the chair. Then he turned to his wife, who was now holding his hand as she looked into his eyes. Tears were coming down on her cheeks, they knew what was gonna happen next. He rubbed off her tears and said, "I'm sorry it has to end this way, it's all my fault". "No, it isn't Joseph, I'm glad that I'll be dying while in your arms, remember our vow, I'm happy we'll be fulfilling those words we made _till death do us part_", she spoke while the tears came running down the more.

They forgot about the approaching truck and were focused in expressing their emotions since they were now sure this was their end.

"I wish we were able to see our unborn child grow", he said as he finally broke into tears. "Well, she has to go with us to heaven", Emerald said. "I guess you and Damien were right, well I'd have love to call her Josephine", he declared. "It's beautiful, I was so sure she would be her father's daughter, your best buddy, so bad Damien wouldn't get to see her", Emerald continued. "Well, she won't have to stay in this world of evil and deceit", he replied. The truck was already fast approaching, the driver of the truck was trying to control the truck but he couldn't and was so disappointed to see that, they on the other hand, weren't making an effort.

They gently kissed each other. James had revived before the collision occurred. Young Damien who could see the car from afar, screamed out loud as he watched the two vehicles horribly collide.
