บท 12: After Breakfast in the mansion

"So, you are Julie right??", Aunt Maggie asked like she didn't know.

"Yes, ma'am", Julie replied politely.

"What do you do?", Aunt Maggie asked.

"Nothing", Julie boldly answered.

Diane made sure she laughed out loud.

Taylor warned Diane, "You enjoy getting choked right?, do you want to get choked again?, where are your manners?".

"You are kidding, right?", Aunt Maggie said to Julie. "No I'm not, well..", Julie wasn't done talking when Aunt Maggie interrupted, "I don't need to hear the reason for that, in this family, everyone is meant to be hard working and if you would like to be part of this family, you should be doing something and necessarily be a CEO in whatever business you are doing", Aunt Maggie harshly spoke.

"Aunt, at least you should have let her finish, I had insisted that she shouldn't work, what's the need when I am here for her", Damien spoke calmly. "You should have asked us first, if we would like it, before coming to such conclusion", Aunt Maggie scolded.

He replied boldly, "I'm not getting married to Julie to meet your standards but I'm gonna marry her because I love her".

"Damien, are you saying my approval doesn't matter to you?, why don't you seem to understand that I care about you?, we care about you, there are lot of things you have to seek our consent for, first. I don't want you ending up like Anna, she thought she was so smart that she could make decisions without seeking our consents, now, you can see where she's ended up, she has a kid with no father neither does she have a husband ", Aunt Maggie continued. Eyes were now on Anna.

Anna felt ashamed, hearing this from her mother made her feel heartbroken, but she acted like it didn't get to her, at all.

"You can say what you want to say, Aunt, I'm not changing my mind", Damien made himself clear by standing his ground, afterwards he continued eating.

Julie had no idea whether to say something that would make everyone happy and at peace or whether to just keep quiet, well she ended up going for the latter. "Just in case you change your mind, I have an offer for you", Taylor sounded like he was being helpful.

After the Breakfast, Julie made sure she got to the room before Damien did. She got a maid to clean up the mess she had made in Damien's gallery. "Where do you think I can get exactly this kind of frame, Madame?", she asked the maid, who she thought was also French like the other maid.

"I can get it for you ma'am, I know a very good picture framer, I'll just get the measurements", the kind maid volunteered.

"Thank you, that will be very good, I'll come to you to get it, this night", Julie assured the maid.

"Son, how have you been doing?", the old woman spoke while touching his cheek. "I've been alright, Granny". "That's good to hear, dear, I really missed my favorite grandson", after a pause she remembered something and spoke "Where's the beautiful lady you brought with you, is she gone already?". "No granny, you'll get to see her later, let's go out for a walk", he insisted. They set out for the garden.

"I'm glad that you are going out for a walk with me son, I remember when you were still a kid, I would take you out for a walk, now you are the one who is taking me out for a walk", after saying this she giggled.

She continued, "Damien, I'm happy you came, please would you stay with us, now?". Damien held her as they walked into the garden. He replied, "Granny, I'm here to stay with you, if not for you, do you think I'll be here, so of course I will stay with you". She smiled and walked with him as they talked.

After his parent's death, Damien closest relative was his granny. He always wanted to please her and nobody else, and he always found comfort and happiness with her since he was a kid.

Anna was in her room, locked up, shedding tears as she looked at a picture of a man, which she held unto. She spoke to the man in this picture, "Why did you leave me?, you abandoned me and our baby, if you didn't love me at first, you could I've just told me and not make me fall in love with you. I thought you wanted to have a family, I thought we had planned it all out, I still remember when you said you couldn't wait to have Nora, why was it when I had her you died?!!!, you fucking died!!! why??!!, you could have died when she had grown, now can you see?, my mum thinks of me as a nobody, she hardly even calls me her daughter, even my own father doesn't even think I exist, all because of you left me".

After saying this things, she gulped a bottle of intoxicating wine and continued talking while shedding more tears. "I can't even tell Nora you are her father, I can't tell her, her father was a criminal, I was in love with a criminal, well you deserved death, I deserve whatever is happening to me too, this is what I get for falling in love with a criminal in the first place". She continued soliloquizing.
