Behind Arthur, the massive pile of bone grass was precisely the target of the giant Minotaur.
Clearly, the giant Minotaur had just entered a phase of hunger and was preparing to eat. At this moment, as it made its way to its "dining area," a person stood in its way.
Without a doubt, Arthur immediately became the giant Minotaur's target.
Arthur smiled. When all seems lost, there's always a glimmer of hope.
Observing the giant Minotaur's unusually large horns and the gleam they reflected in the sunlight, Arthur had no doubt about how ferocious its attacks could be.
The giant Minotaur kicked its hooves furiously and charged at Arthur with its massive horns.
Its speed was frightening. The enormous size of the beast didn't slow it down; instead, it gave it a pace far beyond human speed.
The ground seemed to tremble.
Arthur took a deep breath, drew his weapon, the White Rose Star, and with a sharp shout, exerted all his strength to dodge to the side, narrowly avoiding the giant Minotaur's charge.
As the monster was still in its rigid state, Arthur's White Rose Star swiftly left several deep cuts on its foot joints.
The blood was quite thick. Arthur glanced at the monster's blood bar and thought to himself.
"Roar!" The giant Minotaur roared in fury as Arthur skillfully kept himself hidden in its blind spots. The monster's rage was so intense that it struck the ground with a powerful punch. To Arthur's astonishment, it pulled out a stone axe from the earth, a weapon as tall as itself.
What the heck, I need to report this. This guy is definitely cheating! Arthur was taken aback by the giant Minotaur's surprising habit of strolling around and its bad habit of hiding weapons. Seeing the enormous stone axe, which was taller than him, Arthur took a deep breath.
After drawing its personal weapon, the giant Minotaur gripped the massive axe with its three-fingered hand and swung it at Arthur with great force.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The air seemed to be sliced apart by the stone axe, emitting a mournful wail.
The attack area of the stone axe was immense, and the monster's sudden surge in power and speed was overwhelming. Arthur couldn't avoid it in such a short time and had no choice but to brace himself.
Block!!!
At the moment the huge axe came crashing down, Arthur raised the White Rose Star to shield himself.
An extremely discordant scene unfolded.
Arthur stood his ground, absorbing the giant Minotaur's heavy strike. Surprisingly, the seemingly decorative one-handed sword managed to withstand the enormous axe's attack.
Counterattack!!!
Arthur silently urged himself, and the White Rose Star shifted from defense to offense. He thrust the sword into the giant Minotaur's lower region.
Gulp. Arthur swallowed nervously. The position of the counterattack wasn't something he could control, so seeing this, even Arthur felt a chill.
The damage from hitting the weak spot and breaking armor was second only to the two high-level sword techniques he currently mastered.
Even with its thick health, the giant Minotaur lost nearly half of its health with this attack.
After the stiffened state wore off, the giant Minotaur roared in rage, raising its massive axe.
Arthur suddenly felt something was wrong and quickly jumped back.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The giant Minotaur spun around. Within the outer circle formed by its massive axe, it was almost a death zone.
Arthur dared not be reckless and temporarily avoided the monster's furious attack.
The monster's power was immense, creating a small tornado. Getting too close would pull Arthur into the whirlwind, where the rapidly spinning axe would shred him to pieces.
Realizing this, Arthur stepped back a few more paces. He was confident that the giant Minotaur couldn't maintain this for long.
Sure enough, just a few seconds later, the monster stopped spinning, its body swaying, and a dizzy status icon appeared below its health bar.
Perfect opportunity! Arthur was surprised that the giant Minotaur had essentially defeated itself. He sheathed the White Rose Star, bent slightly, and fixed his sharp gaze on the monster.
What followed was the same as before—a one-hit kill using the Nine-Headed Dragon Flash.
One-handed sword, advanced sword technique!
Nine-Headed Dragon Flash!!!
Activate!!!
In an instant, Arthur transformed into a shadow and charged at the giant Minotaur, moving so fast that a whirlwind followed in his wake.
In just a moment, nine sword lights erupted around the monster, forming what appeared to be a giant dragon.
Then, the sword lights converged violently. Arthur seemed to hear a dragon's roar in his ears.
The nine unerring slashes instantly took away the remaining half of the giant Minotaur's health and, while it was still in its dazed state, claimed its life.
Sorry, I don't want to play anymore. Arthur thought silently. He had not used Nine-Headed Dragon Flash earlier because the distance between him and the monster was too close, and the monster's overly large stone axe meant that even a second or two of charging time could be fatal for Arthur.
Although he could kill the giant Minotaur without using Nine-Headed Dragon Flash, it would have taken much longer.
"Speaking of which, this task was so troublesome; I should definitely get a corresponding reward," Arthur muttered to himself. When the reward prompt appeared and he saw the giant Minotaur's horns listed, Arthur nodded in satisfaction.
.....................................................................
Having obtained the necessary items for the quest, Arthur strolled leisurely, feeling no rush. He was confident that he would return to Urbas before nightfall, so he decided to enjoy the scenery here.
Though, to be honest, there wasn't much to see.
But for Arthur, the scenery was irrelevant; what mattered was relaxation.
However, not everyone shared this mindset.
With his charisma and leadership skills, combined with his role as the commander of the first layer's raid, Tieburu quickly formed a player team and established a guild. Although the guild had not yet officially reached the required floor, this did not deter his plans. Moreover, under his rallying cry to conquer the game, many players joined Tieburu's guild.
Now, ten days had passed since they first faced the layer one boss. Tieburu led his guild members towards the maze area, preparing to find the boss room and tackle the second layer as quickly as possible. After all, as an elite player during the beta test, he knew the current boss wasn't much stronger. Given that they had easily defeated the first layer's boss, the Gnoll Lord Irefang, he was confident that, with caution, they would succeed.
However, he hoped that certain individuals would stay out of this. Tieburu stood at the back of the team, lost in thought. Arthur's solitary battle against the Gnoll Lord Irefang, where he defeated it without losing a single point of health, was etched deeply in his memory. Whenever he had free time, he would recall that elusive figure.
"President!" At that moment, a player beside Tieburu called out.
"What is it?" Tieburu shook off his thoughts and asked gently.
"Team A discovered the boss room during their exploration." The player was a robust man wielding a great sword.
"Is that so? Excellent!!" Tieburu clapped his hands in excitement. They had been here for a day, and it was surprising they had only just discovered it with the entire team involved.
This time, I must claim the final blow reward!
Tieburu took a deep breath, and along with the reporting member, he headed towards Team A, which had found the boss room.
Team A was positioned deeper in the dungeon. The members were the elite of Tieburu's guild, the Earth Knights, each one at the top of their level and equipment.
When Tieburu and his large group arrived, all the monsters around the boss room had been cleared, leaving only a large door standing. Team A members waited for Tieburu's arrival and his next instructions.
"President, the boss room is right here, but we didn't open the door yet as we were concerned about triggering any unexpected events," said the leader of Team A, an elite from Tieburu's first-layer squad, whose strength had made him the leader of the strongest team. No one disputed his position as he had earned it through challenging layers one by one.
"Good. Let's not announce the discovery of the boss room yet. We'll have a strategy meeting tonight, rest for the night, and start the attack officially tomorrow!" Tieburu nodded and said, his eyes glazing over as he stared at the door.
"Understood!"
Meanwhile, deep in the wilderness, Arthur was unaware of Tieburu organizing teams and preparing for a strategy meeting to tackle the second layer's boss.
After half an hour, Arthur finally emerged from the wilderness.
Everything had been uneventful; unlike his previous encounter escorting the blacksmith, Skagg. Until Arthur arrived at the grassland area.
"Dark King's True Eye User, get out of the way! Let me grant this ugly monster its demise," shouted two small figures nearby, who, despite their somewhat clumsy coordination, had managed to control several wild buffaloes.
The familiar figure wielded a short sword and, with a crescent-like slash, killed all three buffaloes.
"Yay! We did it!" Kirari Rikka clapped her hands excitedly and asked, "Black Cat-chan, how much more Koer do we need?"
"I told you not to add 'chan'! It's so annoying!" Black Cat replied disdainfully, though her eyes were on the Koer in her inventory.
"We still need fifteen hundred Koer. Let's work hard, and we'll get it done today," Black Cat said, taking a deep breath and encouraging her partner.
"Oh, I see," Kirari Rikka pouted.
"Don't worry, Dark King's True Eye User! I'll protect you with my fallen angel's power," Black Cat said, patting Kirari Rikka's shoulder with a grin.
"Don't need it. A mere black cat can't stop my Dark King's True Eye from piercing through your hollow lies," Kirari Rikka retorted, covering her eyes and smiling in a manner that seemed both mischievous and dramatic.
These two... make quite the pair. Arthur shook his head in exasperation from a distance. One bit of middle-school syndrome was bad enough, but two of them together? The impact was evident.
"Hmph, Dark King's True Eye User, even in ten thousand years, you'll never defeat me. So, harbor that hatred and keep striving. You'll find that you can never overcome me," Black Cat sneered contemptuously. Their daily bickering had become a habit and a way to relieve their stress. They encouraged each other and continued to survive.
