I raced after Melanie, hoping I'd catch up to her before she leaves for good. She was someone who could help me with my plans, and I was not about to pass on this opportunity. She clearly had a thing for Michael Black, and by nature she would despise Sylvie for being in the way. Me on the other hand wanted to be with Sylvie, and while I didn't exactly feel hate for Michael Black, I was jealous of him—jealous of his relationship with Sylvie

"Excuse me?" I called after Melanie just before she could enter her vehicle.

She heard me and paused, her brow raised inquisitively. "Is there something I can help you with?" She asked with hurt visible in her voice. It was already obvious that her visit to Michaek Black's office had not ended well. And now, she was doing her best to keep her hurt from showing.
