บท 5: I Kinda Expected It...

[Hey guys, it's me—Asuka. You know, the highly intellectual being you've been following for the last four chapters. Yeah, and you're probably wondering why I'm breaking the fourth wall. Well, I know you're bored. I mean, four chapters in and I'm still weak, stuck in the same place. That author? He's not doing me any justice. So, I've decided to take control of this novel myself. From here on, it's going to be all first-person POV, and don't worry, this is the last time I'll break the fourth wall. I swear it on the single drop of blood I've got left.]

Now, back to the scene at hand. It was... gruesome. Intestines, bones, chunks of muscle—and there was even some yellow stuff mixed in. Honestly, if I were my old self, I'd have fainted on the spot. Fear or disgust—I don't even know what would've hit me first.

But now? It was beautiful. Not like those boring old paintings in art galleries. No, this was like the stuff you find on social media, with a solid phonk in the background.

It felt real. Something that excited my nerves.

And no, I haven't suddenly turned into a psycho. It's all thanks to that damn villain's cold-blood skill. Well, it's the only reason I've stayed sane for all these days, so I can't exactly complain. Though, if it messed with me sexually… well, then I don't care how useful of a skill you are,

I would have.... cough Let it be for now.

I took a few cautious steps forward, stopping just two paces away from that muscle-head, grinning idiot. Was he expecting me to be shocked? To clap or something?

Sorry, bro. My skill doesn't allow for such beta behaviour.

Hehe!

I couldn't help but ask the obvious question. "If you're that strong, why are you even here?"

He paused, staring at the exit for a moment before turning back to me. "You're okay after seeing… all this?" There was concern in his voice—no, it was confusion. Or it resembled regret even more.

Was the bastard planning to ditch me if I fainted?

"Let's escape first, I'll explain later," the muscle-head said.

I nodded. He was right—It was no time to waste. We had to get out before the shift changed.

As he slowly opened the door, a strange wave of nostalgia hit me. It reminded me of my teenage years, sneaking out late at night, trying not to wake my parents as I quietly opened and closed doors. Only now, the stakes were a little higher than getting grounded.

Once he checked it was clear, he motioned for me to follow. We were still in the same clothes, filthy from the mine. I wasn't sure if these rags had trackers in them, but with the guards' bodies now in pieces, we had to sneakily escape. But to be honest, now it looked a lot more impossible.

Even after seeing this muscle head's strength firsthand, I wasn't confident about our odds. My gut was still on high alerting, Escaping Roth can't be this easy?

I mean without outside help at least I don't think we both can escape. More like now that my plan is busted with all intestines out.

It was dark outside, with a few lamps glowing here and there, casting long shadows over the area. Strangely, it looked a lot like the world I came from. A simple parking lot.

Wait, was this… actually a parking area?

There were old cars lined up, perfectly parked. I glanced back at the small, compact building we had just emerged from. So, to hide the mana ore extraction mine, they built it underground, disguised as a normal parking lot on the surface.

I had to give it to them. Pretty genius.

"So, what's the plan now?" I whispered, turning to the muscle head.

Given how confident he was, keeping his identity a mystery, I was pretty sure he was some big shot who came prepared. Maybe he had some sort of plot armour or golden finger ready for me, and finally, I could get carried.

Yay!

But of course, nothing is ever been that easy for me.

Whoop-whoop-whoop.

Suddenly, a loud siren blared through the air, and all hell broke loose. Guards came pouring in from every direction, fully armed, weapons ready.

"Ah, crap."

Half an hour ago—no, not even ten minutes ago—they were packing up, ready to leave. Now, they're fully geared up, surrounding us from all sides.

What the hell?

"Are we screwed?" I asked, feeling a knot tighten in my stomach.

He glanced back at me, his grin widening. "Not quite yet."

I nodded in response, but what the hell did he mean by not yet?

His eyes started glowing red, growing more intense by the second as he brought his hands together. The air around us shifted, strong gusts swirling between his palms, forming an imperfect sphere. I didn't know what attack he was about to unleash, but instinctively, I could tell that once he clapped, every guard around us would burst apart, just like the previous two.

Having plot armour is so reassuring!

But then, a familiar heavy sound echoed from behind us.

"At least you could've let me finish my damn sleep," a deep voice grumbled.

A half-naked, muscular figure stepped beside me and casually walked past. It was the manager.

"So now we're really screwed."

The grin on the musclehead's face vanished as he muttered, "Yeah, we are fucked,"

just before the manager launched him with a single kick, he flew across the parking lot, crashing into the opposite wall, bleeding and unconscious in seconds.

The manager's gaze then shifted to me, and for a moment, I could feel death creeping closer. But oddly enough, I was calm. Composed.

That seemed to confuse him, if only for a second before a smirk curled his lips.

"Your ambitions are way too lethal for that frail body of yours," he laughed, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "I thought you'd die by tomorrow, and it looks like I was right."

{A/N}

I know the transition in pov is quite sudden and unprompted, also many aren't quite fond of 1st pov.

But please continue reading, you will get use to it in short time and yes, there indeed is a reason behind the change.

Putting that aside, Do you guys think that muscular man would be able to beat the manager?

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions pls feel free to comment.
