Xiao Fan, no longer connected to Murong Lan, was further looked down upon by the disciples of the Xiao Family.
"If only I were a peerless genius, becoming a direct disciple of the Divine Lightning Sect, our Xiao Family wouldn't lose business, and Miss Murong wouldn't have called off the engagement," he lamented.
Xiao Fan went alone to the forest outside Chongwu City to cultivate, but his body's absorption of nature's spiritual energy had almost ceased, plunging the bewildered Xiao Fan into deep despair.
"Could it be that I, Xiao Fan, am a complete failure? No, I, Xiao Fan, must defy the heavens! Even if the heavens hinder my cultivation, I shall become an immortal!" he vowed.
The pride in Xiao Fan's bones quickly spurred him on.
"Good. The old must become stronger, and never shift from their will. Though poor, we must remain resolute and never abandon our aspirations," he encouraged himself.
