บท 77: Chapter 77: Father vs Son (1)
Right now everyone was sitting at the table enjoying the food that Chi-Chi had cooked for her resurrection.
The woman was next to Goku and her son chatting about anything, she wanted to make up for lost time, and boy did she have homework.
Dende was talking with Piccolo telling him how things were going on Namek and incidentally what the role that Moori had assigned him would be.
"What? Are you going to be the new Kami?" Piccolo asked, raising an eyebrow due to the surprise that this generated in him, "And why is that?"
Dende got ready to reply but then Gohan stepped forward. "Because if you die again, they'll run out of Dragon Balls... again"
"Well, I don't have to say how disastrous that would be. That's why with a new Kami that kind of problem would be avoided" Gohan said.
They all looked at each other as it sounded pretty smart. Chi-Chi smiled proudly. "Isn't my son very smart?"
"The truth is that I had thought about the same thing, but first I wanted to finish eating" Goku proffered scratching his cheek with a big smile.
Gohan nodded at those words, since after all in the original series the idea of going to find a new Kami-sama was Goku's.
"I suppose if you say this it's because something happened in your time that forced you to look for another Kami, right?" Piccolo inquired suspiciously.
"Yes, Frieza's father came to Earth while we were on Namek" Gohan replied leaving almost everyone present shocked by that.
"Yes, that's how I was when I found out" Trunks said smiling when he saw the face that his teacher made, "But it's just the beginning, tell them Gohan"
The boy nodded with the same smile as Trunks, and then began to tell them what had happened since the day he asked his father Goku to train him.
Going through the battle with Raditz, the training with Kami, the fight against the Saiyans and against the cold demons.
He omitted some details that of course they shouldn't know, like the fact that he was now the monarch of hundreds of planets in the universe.
Needless to say, they were all surprised, it seemed like a totally different world from the one they had lived in in their time.
"Incredible, you defeated not only the Saiyans but also Frieza, and the androids of this time" Goku said with some pride in his voice.
"You defeated Cooler and Piccolo defeated Frieza's father, so I really didn't do everything hehe" Gohan replied scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"And we to the Ginyu forces!" Yamcha exclaimed with a smile, "And to think that in your time I've achieved so much, it's impressive."
"Yeah, once Guru unlocked your potential you became very powerful" Gohan added smiling, "And speaking of which, dad!"
"Hmm?" Goku looked up.
"Why have you never taught them Kaio-ken?" asked the boy curiously, "That technique can be very helpful despite the risk"
"Well, they never told me they wanted to learn it" Goku replied with a shrug, they all turned to him in astonishment.
A bead of sweat fell down the temples of all of them and then they burst out laughing. Goku scratched the back of his neck, not understanding what was happening.
"Hey Gohan, you have said that in your time I'm the most powerful, right?" Piccolo asked with a tiny smile, until the young man shook his head.
"And you were, but I surpassed you by going Super Saiyan, then Dad, Vegeta, and finally Uncle Raditz. But Nappa hasn't yet" Gohan replied.
"What we do know is that none of them will grow hair if they get more powerful" Yamcha joked, glancing at the namekian.
A vein formed in Piccolo's temple upon hearing those words and Krillin let out a laugh. But Goku noticed something a little curious.
"What was Raditz like in your time?" asked the man curiously, he was surprised to hear what the young man had called him.
"He is a proud warrior, but also someone protective. On Namek he died protecting me from a dangerous attack by Frieza" the boy answered.
Goku was surprised by this, he had never thought that the cruel being that kidnapped his son would have sacrificed his life, it was unusual.
"Damn, if I had known we would have revived him a long time ago" Goku scratched the back of his neck, "But I think it's too late now"
If he let Vegeta live, who in his time was someone far more ruthless than Raditz, why didn't he resurrect his brother in that case?
"Speaking of reviving... How could you come back if you were supposed to have died from heart disease?" Gohan asked somewhat curiously.
"King Yemma allowed me to keep my body for the deeds he had done in life, and the others also kept his bodies"
"But not Vegeta, his soul was too stained, but I asked King Yemma not to purify his soul or anything" Goku commented.
To earn the right to keep the body one had to die in battle, or after having performed extraordinary feats, like Goku.
But those who were evil in life would be purified until they became a pure soul that would be reborn as a new living being.
Thus, he would lose all his memories and what he was before. And Goku didn't want that for Vegeta, despite all the evil the Saiyan prince did.
He did it with the goal that if one day they were revived, they would be able to fight again. They had to settle the outstanding account they had left.
"And the first thing that bastard did is insult his son" Yamcha said with a frown. Goku smiled nervously at that.
"And I imagine that in your time he is just as proud" Tien turned to Gohan, who nodded thoughtfully. A doubt had crossed his mind.
"So…does that mean you've been training all this time?" Gohan asked looking at his alternate future counterpart.
"Yeah, as soon as I died I appeared before dad and the others, since then I've been training intensely" Future Gohan replied.
Then, he turned to Trunks. "I would have liked to come help you, it was torture for me to see how those androids hurt you"
"But both King Kai and King Yemma warned us that we couldn't intervene in the world of the living because we were dead"
"I felt very helpless, I wanted to help you but I couldn't..." the man murmured, lowering his gaze, "But finally, all that is over now"
"Yes... master" Trunks nodded wiping away his tears and Bulma did the same. Chi-Chi was with a white handkerchief over her nose sobbing.
Gohan smiled at that, he felt that he had done the right thing by coming to this time and fixing almost all the damages.
"Dad, I would like to know how strong you are at this point…could we fight?" Gohan asked with an excited smile.
"Okay! I was dying to see your strength too, it will be exciting!" Goku exclaimed getting up from his chair, "Let's go outside Gohan!"
Gohan and his biological father from another timeline left the house instantly. The rest blinked in puzzlement. It was all sudden!
"Curiosity is killing me, I'll go see" Gohan from the future decided to stand up, he wanted to see his counterpart from another era in action.
"I also want to see the power of your past self. If he was able to defeat the androids, he must be strong" said Krillin.
"You'll be very surprised! I doubt that Goku will have any chance of defeating him" Trunks stood up as well, and Piccolo looked at him.
"We haven't been playing in the Other World, our power has increased incredibly" the namekian smirked and left the house.
Dende followed him and saying this, they all left in the direction of the place where the sparring between father vs son would take place, in the middle of the mountains.
"It's been a long time since I was excited for a fight, the last time was against Frieza and his father" Goku blurted out smiling excitedly.
"Hehe same to me dad" Gohan added getting into a fighting stance, 'I can't make an estimate on his total power.'
He didn't know how much he had trained, but knowing me and knowing that he was dead for almost twenty years... it was inconceivable.
'He is very young but his posture is that of someone who has fought millions of enemies, it will be fun!' Goku thought clenching his knuckles.
The others were around expectantly waiting for the battle. Trunks trusted Gohan even though it was Goku we are talking about.
"It will be an exciting fight, I want to see how powerful this Gohan is" Tien crossed his arms, and Yamcha nodded with a smile.
"Here goes" Piccolo muttered looking at the scene.
Gohan appeared behind his father, who instantly turned to attack him but the boy jumped back and charged at the Saiyan again.
Goku prepared to counter that attack but suddenly multiple copies of Gohan appeared surrounding him. He smiled at this.
"The Afterimage Technique? Well..." Goku frowned as he felt each copy emitting the same Ki signature, 'How can that be?' Goku rambled.
He closed his eyes trying to concentrate. It was neither the Afterimage nor Tien technique, he had never seen anything like it. "Hey, what technique is that?"
Gohan remembered the time he went to get the sacred water in Korin's tower, because right at that moment he had the doubt that Goku now had.
"Spirit cloning dad" Gohan asked with a smile and in an instant he placed two fingers on his forehead and reappeared before his father.
He was just about to smash a fist into his face when Goku suddenly vanished and appeared behind him using Instant Transmission.
Gohan saw how Goku's fist was millimeters from his face, so he used Instant Transmission again to dodge that blow.
Goku felt his Ki and used the technique again. Both found themselves in a place illuminated by various colors: the Instant Transmission space.
"They disappeared!" Yamcha exclaimed.
"Haaaaa!" a multi-fisted duel began at that moment. Gohan found himself cornered by Goku's enormous power.
And he was unable to dodge every blow, but at the same time he was getting an idea of Goku's power and what a gap there was between them.
'His base power is far superior to mine... but despite that' Gohan thought concentrating all of his energy, and expelled it, "Kaiō-ken times twenty!"
A reddish aura surrounded him and Goku widened his eyes in surprise. A fist to his cheek caused him to be thrown backwards by this impact.
And immediately they returned to reality. Goku landed on his knee and Gohan stopped a few feet from him. The others were stunned.
"If Goku wasn't holding back… I'd be scared" Yamcha said with a nervous smile, but the others were serious-faced.
Did that mean Goku hadn't held back? After years of arduous training... a boy "matched" Goku.
'It's not just his power, his way of fighting and executing techniques are impressive' thought Piccolo, pleasantly surprised by that.
"I already told you that Gohan is amazing!" Trunks exclaimed with a smile, "And he hasn't even used his Super Saiyan transformation yet."
Future Gohan was looking pleased. He wanted to understand the reason for Trunks' overwhelming trust towards the Saiyan boy.
"I see you learned the Yadrat techniques, hahaha that will make the battle more exciting" Goku smiled, "And you even used the Kaio-ken!"
"I knew that at least your power is between ten or twenty times greater than mine, so with Kaio-ken I bridged this gap" the boy explained.
"I understand how you were able to beat Frieza... but it won't be that easy for you to beat me!" Goku yelled, turning into a Super Saiyan.
"We'll see that!" Gohan let out a mighty roar and his hair turned gold, as did his aura. Goku gave a slight smile.
The turquoise blue eyes of the two Super Saiyans collided like a stormy sea. The combat between the two was going to be epic...
