"W-what is this?"
"1 million. Leave my son, you're not fit to be with someone of his position."
An elegant middle aged woman stared down a beautiful young woman. They sat in a nice secluded cafe, hashing out what seemed to be like a shady deal. Unbeknownst to them, other customers in the cafe were peeking at them from the corner of their eyes, even the workers kept an eye on them.
Gossip ah, everyone loves to hear such interesting things. That was what Gu Musheng thought as he watched the screen.
"The Other Side of the Story" was a new k drama that had recently aired. After the first three episodes, the drama had caught on fire, with view counts rising up and countless people turning into fans. They all tuned in every Monday and Friday to watch the new episode.
It wasn't surprising that the drama became so popular. It had a great touching storyline that added depth to a cliche plot, but most of all, every single one of the actors, whether a main lead or a nobody, they were all beautiful! The men, handsome and mouthwatering! The women, beautiful and elegant to the point of seeing flowers!
Watching such a drama, even if it had a shitty plot, people would still watch it to cleanse their eyes.
And Gu Musheng was no different. Watching dramas, playing games, and just doing plain nothing had been his greatest pastime of late. Ever since he had declared that he was done, he never looked back.
He could finally relax.
Or so he thought.
Staring at the private number that was currently calling him, Gu Musheng really didn't want to answer. So he turned off his phone. What the eyes didn't see, the heart won't grieve.
Calling him at this time, probably meant that he would have to move again. Letting out a reluctant sigh, Gu Musheng ignored it. It was better to watch the drama and be happy. It was getting to the good part.
"You think you can stop our love with a vulgar thing like money?" The female lead spoke with a slow intonation and with bewilderment in her eyes.
The male lead's mother narrowed her eyes letting out a sneer as she eyed the female lead up and down, "The same money that's been used to buy you your current clothes comes from the same money that this check does. You think our 18 year old son can earn his own money right now? No, his money comes from what his father has earned. Before we could even introduce him to the working world of adults, he started a relationship with you."
Offended, the female lead retorted, "What's wrong with dating?"
The male lead's mother crossed her arms as she leaned back on the chair, she stared down at the female lead. "It would have been fine if he could become more responsible with having another person attached to him, but ever since he's gotten with you, the only thing on his mind was to buy, buy, buy. And it's not even money that he has earned. I told him to get a job, he could even start interning at his father's company, but what did he tell me? 'No Mother, I can't. Father's company has long working hours and I can't bear to be apart from my girlfriend.' When I told him to stop wasting money he told me: 'But Mother it's not a waste! I'm spending it on my sweetheart. She deserves the best in the world.' And when I told him to break up with you he said: 'But Mother, it's true love! I love her so much I can't possibly bear to break up.' Bullshit!"
Gu Musheng let out a gasp. The elegant and calm spoken Mrs. Park actually cursed!
Gu Musheng watched with stars in his eyes. She's so badass.
"Can love feed you? Can love help you survive in this world? Can love solve all your problems? Can you fucking eat love?"
The female lead tried to refute, "Love is ess-"
"Be quiet!" Snapped the male lead's mother, her cold eyes intimidating the female lead into shutting her mouth. "It was a rhetorical question."
She sneered. "You're just an eighteen year old girl, until you survive five years in the adult world, don't discuss with me whether love is essential or not. And don't try to sway me by speaking about familial love; you know very well what kind of love I am speaking of."
The female lead's lips trembled and slowly opened. "Mrs. Park, your son and I, truly do love each other. We may be young but we know what we're doing. We are dating with the intent of marriage. And in this relationship that we have, we are continuously supporting each other, helping the other to become a better person."
Mrs. Park tapped on the table, those white slender fingers drawing all eyes. "You say you're supporting each other? Helping the other to become a better person? I've investigated you, and from what I've seen, you're nothing but a dodder flower. The only support you gave my son was just sweet words. You neither helped him in his plights, nor understood his troubles. You just stayed happily spoiled in my son's hands. And when you got into an argument with each other, hah, you ran into another man's arms. You think? How can I let my son get together with such a capricious woman."
"Mrs. Park, we are just friends!"
"Oh? Friends that cuddle till they fall asleep? Friends that kiss each other everywhere except the lips? Friends that hold hands when outside and when people comment on how cute a couple you are, both blush without a single denial? You have 6 male "friends" that you do this with, do you think I am stupid? Break up with my son, you have six other spare tires so leave my child that you've been putting a green hat on."
"Mrs. Park! You can't accuse-"
Bam!
The camera faced the door that slammed open. Red in the face, looking cold as the ice on the tip of a mountain, the man pursed his lips, "Mom."
Ah finally! The male lead has entered the confrontation between his mother and the woman that he loves.
Gu Musheng wondered if he knew about the female lead's male "friends". He blinked in anticipation.
Then he blinked again and again before cursing,
"Damn it, it was getting to the good part!"
