For Alric, all that mattered, for now, was that Aodhan had somehow survived. Heavily bandaged, he lay in the clinic ward at the Pride base. Kept in an artificial coma, the Fae had tubes and drips attached to him. Around his neck hung the luck charm Ming-Ji had crafted for Alric. The angel stared at the health monitors that beeped and hummed, drowning out the excruciating silence. Had he not ventured there, had he just stayed home and hoped for the best, then Aodhan would probably have bled to death.
