"Bobby, I didn't mean to," she cried. 

Pedro, who had slipped out as soon as he sensed the tension, quickly came back in with his phone in his hand, "Benedito, there's a small emergency Hans is asking for you."

He quickly nodded and excused him before he left. I had a good feeling Pedro's little excuse was just a lie to give Ma and I a chance to talk because anyone could see Benedito did not even know where to look at that moment. 

"I'm going to get a drink quickly," Clyde kissed the side of my head before he stood up and left the room as well. 

"What if I died Ma?" I stressed, "What if Pa didn't come after you and couldn't help you. You could have died too. Money or not, Pa or not that wasn't very wise of you. Then to only tell me once I'm close to thirty."

"I didn't want to tell you because you were going through so much with your Pa when you were finally old enough to understand," she sobbed.
