บท 6: Chapter 6

Ichinose Honami POV

'I want to see Hikigaya.'

Ichinose thought, glancing at Hikigaya during breaks.

While she texted Hikigaya on a daily basis, she wanted more. She wanted to hear his voice. She wanted to talk to him.

This feeling was even more accentuated when they had swimming lessons the previous day.

While she did feel like Hikigaya was fit, she hadn't expected Hikigaya to have such a physique. Broad shoulders, wide back, and muscles were spread evenly across his body, covered with an adequate layer of fat.

A semblance of a six pack was there, barely visible unless at the right angle

How would it feel to get hugged by such a body.

Ichinose couldn't help but think.

When she had met eye contact with Hikigaya with such thoughts, she couldn't help but look away in embarrassment.

But she hated it.

She overheard the other girls noting Hikigaya's physique, admiring his look.

She didn't like it.

She should be the only one who knows Hikigaya's charms. Just her.

While other boys were trying to discreetly look at the womens bodies, Hikigaya just straight up decided not to look in their direction.

Ichinose was a little disappointed, but it was what made Hikigaya even more attractive. A respectful and kind side that only she knew about.

Ah, she really wanted to talk to him, ask if she looked pretty, tease him, anything. As long as Hikigaya was there.

But he didn't want to get attention.

There were times when she wished that she wasn't popular, just to get the opportunity to talk to Hikigaya.

How fun it would be, eating lunch together, talking during breaks, Ichinose could only dream.

It was her saving grace that no one other than her knew about Hikigaya's appeal.

But…

Who was that girl?

Ichinose had decided to pass by the library before she headed home, trying to at least get a small glance at Hikigaya.

But… There was a girl talking to him. Furthermore, he looked like he was enjoying his time!

'I can do that too.'

Jealousy clenched Ichinose's heart. While she knew she couldn't burden Hikigaya with her own reputation, but right there, she couldn't help but envy the girl's position.

She wanted to talk to Hikigaya too.

She couldn't hold it in anymore.

She had texted Hikigaya as soon as she had the chance and decided to take him out for lunch tomorrow.

Ichinose had formatted it in a manner where Hikigaya would be pressured to accept. She didn't want to resort to such desperate tactics, but she wanted to talk to Hikigaya so much.

And when he accepted, sheer happiness coursed through her veins, giving a sense of ecstasy in her body.

'He really is kind… Indulging in my selfish request with almost no delay…'

Ichinose thought, looking at her phone.

'What is this feeling?'

Hikigaya Hachiman POV

Personally, if someone had asked if he was excited for eating Ramen today, he would wholeheartedly say yes.

It had been a while since he had the opportunity to consume some ramen, and he was craving it a little.

It was undeniably unhealthy, but the saltiness and the flavor of the broth was just too addicting to not like.

He woke up an hour and a half before meeting with Ichinose.

An hour to "Get Ready" and the thirty minutes to go to the mall early.

Hikigaya was the type who arrived a few minutes early to most events, accounting the possibility of encountering an unexpected delay.

Hikigaya had bathed the night before, so he didn't bother with washing his body.

He brushed his teeth, washed his face, and put on lotion and sunscreen.

Hikigaya wasn't a man of fashion, but he appreciated a minimal look.

It was also April, the time of year when the temperature was starting to heat up. It was a perfect time of year, rivaling the fall season.

Hikigaya disliked the heat, and he also disliked the cold.

Checking the weather to see if it'll be cold or not, Hikigaya decided to put on a black shirt one size too big for him, and the school uniform's pants.

It may seem lazy, but Hikigaya was leaving the house for Ramen.

Prioritizing safety against possible splashes were more important than wearing a stupid color like white when going to a Ramen restaurant.

He got ready much earlier than he expected, with 20 minutes still remaining until his original planned time to leave.

Even so, Hikigaya decided to just leave early, getting his daily dose of Vitamin D.

Truly the epitome of efficiency. Hikigaya had to give himself a pat on the back for such ingenuity.

It was already midday, and the sun was shining bright, no clouds in sight.

This was less optimal than Hikigaya imagined. While Japan's naturally humid weather made the shade lose most of it's functions of cooling the area, there was still the placebo effect one would get when they had shelter from the heat of the sun.

Thankfully, the mall was indoors.

Arriving at the planned waiting time 20 minutes early, Hikigaya found Ichinose already waiting at a bench nearby.

She was wearing a white sundress, with a thinner black jacket to cover her arms.

While confusion permeated Hikigaya for a few seconds, he made the conclusion that Ichinose was the type of person who arrived 30 minutes before the promised appointment time.

He could respect it.

Walking up to Ichinose, she noticed him, and her original default expression had lit up.

"Yo, you're here early,"

Hikigaya said, accompanied by a small wave.

Ichinose giggled, a sound pleasant to his ears.

"I could say the same for you, Hikigaya-kun."

Making their way to the Ramen restaurant, they struck up small talk.

"How's the student council?"

"It's been so-so, nothing special happening. It's mainly just paperwork,"

That seems like hell.

"Then it must be pretty boring?"

Ichinose nodded in agreement.

"It's more monotonous than boring,"

"Are you steering clear of the Vice President?"

Now that Hikigaya was on the topic of the student council, he could lean into such topics.

Ichinose, thankfully nodded.

"Yep! Though he does give me weird glances from time to time…"

While Hikigaya could understand Nagumo's sentiment as Ichinose was indeed an S Class beauty, it was a different issue if even she could see that.

"Thats pretty creepy…"

Hikigaya commented, and Ichinose agreed.

They arrived at the Ramen restaurant, and they both entered, and it was pleasantly pretty empty.

It was probably because it had just opened for lunch, and Hikigaya was inwardly grateful before taking a seat.

They ordered their respective Ramens before resuming their conversation.

"Don't give the Vice President any information, he'll probably use it to ask you out or something,"

Hikigaya commented.

"Yeah, I don't know why he'd do that though…"

"Why else? It's just a matter of attractiveness."

Ichinose could feel heat crawling up her neck, before taking a sip of water to cool it down.

"D-do you think I'm attractive?"

Hikigaya was stupefied at the sudden question. But to be consistent with their first meeting, he responded.

"It'd be weirder if I didn't think you were attractive. Don't play yourself down."

Hikigaya watched Ichinose sport a healthy blush.

'Why ask a question if you're going to react like that?'

Hikigaya thought, thinking that Ichinose was way too suseptible to compliments, remembering her reaction when he had first commented on her visuals.

"T-thanks," Ichinose managed to stammer out.

"No problem?"

Hikigaya didn't think that was anything to be thankful for, but he had to change the topic of conversation before it becomes even more weird.

"So did you tell the class about the info?"

Ichinose took the lifeline in an instant.

"Oh yeah! Don't you see how well we're paying attention in class?"

Hikigaya did know. Rather he was impressed by how fast Ichinose worked. Literally the day after, everyone was acting like model students.

She probably had a class group chat she was talking to.

"I did,"

Hikigaya nodded.

"Maybe if we keep this up, we'll be closer to Class A when they reveal it at the start of next month,"

Ichinose noted.

"That'd be pretty nice,"

While Hikigaya didn't particularly care about beating Class A, it was more or less his wish to get a higher allowance. There was absolutely nothing wrong with more money.

"On that topic, when I was talking to the class about saving our points, we decided on handing 70,000 points to me as like a bank, and I give out 30,000 points per month as like an allowance, and when we need to use the money for the class, we can just use our class funds!"

Hikigaya saw the appeal of the system.

By reducing the amount of money that his classmates would use, they naturally reduce spending and subconsciously try to save their money, and on top of that whenever that there was a class event like having a class party, they could just use the bank instead of splitting costs.

Of course, he didn't really want to give anyone money. Maybe he could convince Ichinose that he didn't want to.

"Ichinose, I'm going to tell you a secret."

Ichinose's ears perked up in anticipation.

Hikigaya pulled up his phone to show her his point count. Ichinose's eyes widened in response before looking up at Hikigaya so fast it could have caused whiplash.

"I bet points with clubs where they were centered around a game, and this is how it happened."

Ichinose nodded in tacit understanding.

"Well, Hikigaya-kun, I trust you not to be the type who spends money willy-nilly, so you don't have to do the class system if you don't want to,"

Ichinose smiled in understanding.

'Ichinose Maji Tenshi.'

Hikigaya thought, before giving a grateful smile of his own.

"Thanks for understanding,"

"No, problem!"

At that moment, their ramen had arrived.

While eating, they made small talk, like hobbies and what they did in their free time.

Ichinose on the other hand, wanted to know who exactly the girl in the library was and her relationship with Hikigaya.

"So you like reading?"

"Yeah, I know it's kind of boring, but other than working out, there's nothing else I do,"

Hikigaya commented.

"Oh, now that I think about it, I passed the Library yesterday,"

"You did? I didn't see you at all,"

Hikigaya said, seeing as he was engaged in conversation with Shiina for a majority of the time yesterday.

"I saw you talking to some girl, so I didn't want to disturb…"

The temperature in the store suddenly dropped.

Hikigaya noticed instantly, so he quickly tried to calm Ichinose down.

"Oh she's like… a reading buddy."

The temperature dropped further, causing Hikigaya to sweat in nervousness.

"U-uh, if you want, you can join us,"

Hikigaya prayed that it was what Ichinose wanted, and it looked like he was right, as the temperature in the restaurant went back to normal.

"R-really? You don't mind?"

'The switch up is crazy.'

Hikigaya thought, noting the sudden change in behavior.

"Yeah, I don't think the other person will mind either,"

"O-okay!"

Another smile.

'T-Too bright!'

Thankfully, they had both finished their meals.

"I'll pay, because I invited you out,"

Ichinose said, getting out of her seat.

"Wait. I'll pay, I'm rich anyways,"

"No. Then it'll seem like I invited you out just because you had a lot of points."

"Wait. How about we split the bill then?"

Hikigaya personally didn't mind paying for the meal. He had the money and had much to spend.

But Ichinose didn't back down.

"No. I was the one who invited you out. I should pay."

"Wait—"

"Oh, I already paid! Sorry~"

Hikigaya looked with an exasperated expression, as Ichinose walked up to the register and paid before he could do anything.

"You can pay next time!"

'There's a next time?'

Hikigaya thought, before deciding against calling her out.

"Sure…"

Ichinose had a satisfied smile plastered on her face when he glanced at her.

"Then I'll see you Monday,"

Hikigaya said, smiling and waving at her.

Apparently after Ramen Ichinose was going to go out to karaoke with the girls in Class B.

"Yep! See you then!"

'Freedom.'

A/N: Originally, I planning on ichinose finding out about the bruise on hikigaya, before i decided against it because it would ruin relations between the classes if ichinose was blatantly antagonistic to the other classes.

It would also be way too off character for my liking.

I lowkey enjoy writing yandere secnes.

Also there's going to be a time skip to the end of the month next chapter.

I lowkey cant tell if the pacing is too fast or not.

I think that my chapters are either too long or too short, cause if I split some chapers then the pacing would probably be fine but I'm defininitely not a consistent writer, and id rather not have a schedule. Making a schedule makes it feel like work so I dont wanna do it anymore.

This chapter is pretty short and I feel like sakayanagi has only a few mentions.

damn. Okay I changed my mind. there might be a few more chapters before the month ends.

maybe i should even add an interaction with class D.

But if i remember correctly the content before the month ended was like barely anything in the anime, and it barely lasted a few chapters in the ln.

Any ideas? If i like em ill get some inspiration at the very least.

thanks for reading.
