บท 6: Chapter 5 - New destination

It's been more than three weeks since my trap cut off my left arm that had previously been almost shattered and almost mutilated. Along with my tail in my animal form, which had been incinerated almost to the root, they had been successfully regenerated. Returning to my human form after that long time, I began to close and open the hand of my newly regenerated arm.

"It's good to have my arm back; I honestly thought I had lost it forever, although I still have some remaining burns on my body." Getting up from the ground, I took the clothes I had left on the riverbank and, dressing myself, I decided to return to that town that is now a ghost town.

...

As soon as I entered the town I couldn't help but vomit at the gruesome sight, all the corpses that I could barely see that day due to the difference in vision and the darkness of the night. Now I could observe the bodies more clearly thanks to the sunlight. The place had a foul smell from the rotting corpses with maggots and some being eaten by carrion birds.

I walked around with my mouth and nose covered with a piece of cloth, as well as avoiding looking at the organs scattered all over the place in a rotting state, being eaten by maggots. "This is disgusting, it's the most horrible thing I've ever seen in my life; it's worse to see them in person than to see them in gore videos and even more so at this stage of putrefaction."

Resisting any urge to vomit or walk away from the place that now looked like a zombie movie set, I walked around the town, taking various objects that could be useful to me such as a couple of stone spears, gold and silver objects, an ugly mask, food and some blankets to wrap them in to make the load easier.

Placing two blankets on the ground, I placed the food in the center of one, the gold and silver items on the other blanket, then wrapped them up, lifted them up carrying them on my back and then took both spears in each hand.

"Baaa!" Before I could leave the ghost town, I turned my head towards the origin of the noise, seeing with surprise a large quadruped animal, with a long neck, long pointed ears, and having its entire head covered by a fur similar to sheep's wool... "Wow, a llama, I guess it makes sense for this ancient culture, but leaving that aside... Thank you, Papa God!" Stopping screaming with my arms open to the sky, I walked to where the llama was and after an intense staring match, I placed the things on its back with the help of some ropes and blankets, then climbed onto its back. "Well, let's go!" With that I began my journey.

...

"Wait, where exactly am I going to go?" That question came to my mind after I left the village a few hours ago; scratching my cheek I pulled out one of my makeshift bottles filled with water. "Much better, now, where should I go?" I looked around, seeing only mountains with grass, some trees, more llamas, vicuñas, small rivers and plains. "I better look for a quiet place to practice this, eh… Power? Transformation? Am I a nahual maybe? Although I doubt it, from what I understand, one can only transform into one animal. What do you think, Porfiria?" I asked the llama I had just named that I was riding, earning only a loud moan. "Okay, don't get mad either, you had to be female."

Stopping fighting with Porfiria, I looked up at the blue sky. "Let's look for a quiet place, Porfiria," I said to the llama as I stroked her neck, earning a soft moan. "While I train this animal transformation thing, since I couldn't before to avoid any interruptions when my limbs regenerated, in the meantime you can rest and eat all the food you want," I could feel her shaking her head in a show of happiness. "Also, when I finish my training we will look for a town to settle down in and while you rest in that place, I will look for some sign from those angels to establish communication with them and maybe they can help me get back home," I closed my eyes remembering the first month I was in this dimension.

"Honestly, Porfiria, I had already lost faith in returning home when I found out that the Chavin culture still existed; after all, they existed in the time before Christ; it's like more than two thousand years of difference from my current time and returning to my time would be impossible, but now it's a dimension where magic exists, and surely dimensional magic exists," I looked at the clear sky that was beginning to darken. "It's getting dark now, let's find a herd of llamas or vicuñas to sleep with, it's not safe to sleep alone."

...

In the valley of the Andes where night ruled, screams could be heard from a teenage human, which were incoherent to the humans around, as he rode on a llama, which ran at full speed… "I'm starting to hate cats! Run, Porfilia, Run!" Both individuals were being chased at full speed by a cat-like feline with grayish-brown fur, a little over half a meter in size after they were almost ambushed.

I looked out of the corner of my eye just in time when the puma chasing us was going to jump on us. "Shit, don't even think about it, bastard!" I grabbed one of the spears I had brought and, turning around, managed to repel the puma's attack with the tip of the spear and manage to stab one of its front legs. After the puma's attack failed and he was stabbed in one of his paws, he fell to the ground and started to roll. "I did it! Fuck you, you big fucking cat!" My happiness and celebration didn't last long when the puma got up, and licking his wound, he ran towards us again, approaching slowly, but sure that he would reach us.

I tightened my grip on my spear and kept my gaze fixed on the puma, ready to counter or stab him. "Damn, this doesn't look good," little by little the puma began to get closer until it was positioned next to Porfilia. Then it began to get closer to us, more specifically to Porfilia's paws so that she would lose her balance and fall to the ground. "Don't even believe it, damn you, bastard!" I firmly grabbed the spear and threw it towards the puma, stabbing him in the left thigh, causing him to fall to the ground rolling hard.

"Rot, you damn cat!" I yelled, giving the middle finger to the puma lying on the ground that showed no sign of getting up as we quickly walked away, until in a short time we managed to lose sight of that annoying feline. "Well, now we don't even know where we are, or where the ghost town was, huh?" My gaze stopped on a clear plain where a solitary llama was. "Oh, come a little closer to that llama, Porfiria, maybe it has a pack nearby to sleep with; it's safer to sleep with a pack of llamas than alone against so many predators."

At my words, Porfiria slowly approached that llama, until being almost twenty meters away, Porfiria stopped dead without taking her eyes off that llama. "Is something wrong, Porfiria?" My question was answered almost instantly when a strong chill ran down my spine, taking my eyes away from Porfiria. My gaze went to that llama. I felt my body tense and bristle as the flame began to turn its head, filling my entire body with pure terror.

Human, it had a human face; the flame had a human face, my lips moved desperately, but without any words coming out of my lips and as if that monster knew what I was going to say, he said it himself or rather shouted it. "Jar!, Ja!" With his loud scream it was enough for me to want to run away, but unfortunately I made the mistake of looking the Jarjacha in the eyes. Those piercing eyes were enough to make my entire body stay immobilized while that creature charged towards us.

"JAR!, JA!" I could see in slow motion how the Jarjacha was approaching us, then when it was too close it opened its jaw, ready to bite my head off like in the legends… At the last minute, Porfiria stood on two legs like a horse, throwing me and making me roll on the ground until my back hit a tree. Looking up I saw in horror how the Jarjacha had torn off Porfiria's head. My body froze at the sight.

It was then that the Jarjacha released Porfiria's torn off head, and fixed its piercing eyes on me again, paralyzing me again where I was. 'Ah, I'm going to die, now I'm going to die…' I felt my heart start to beat faster and with it the memories where I was almost killed by those demons. 'No, I refuse, I don't plan to die, I've been through too much to die in this place, much less with this fucking urban legend.' I clenched my fist tightly and slowly rose from the ground, under the gaze of the Jarjacha. As if to mock me, that Jarjacha with a sinister smile on her human face, kicked the head she had torn off Porfiria.

Clank

I felt something break inside me at the sight of that, either literally or verbally. Which I ignored as I felt a deep anger rise within me, flooding my senses. Although I hadn't known Porfiria for very long, she was my first friend with whom I was able to establish a friendly relationship despite being an animal, and now she had been decapitated by that blasphemous creature punished by God. I didn't hesitate, and standing up I charged with all my strength towards the Jarjacha. "Aaaaaaa—Grrrrrraaaahhh!" I felt my bones and muscles begin to grow rapidly, changing my vision from being almost the same height with the Jarjacha to being slightly taller than that entity.

I could see how his piercing eyes changed to disbelief before a huge and powerful brown furry paw sent him flying through the air and he fell hard to the ground, rolling. I looked at the Jarjacha as it stood up with a large scratch on its human face, then charged towards me with a loud scream… Letting out a loud roar and aware of my new acquired form, I stood on two legs and prepared for the confrontation.

Crunch

"Rrraaargh!" I let out a loud scream of pain after the Jarjacha gave a strong bite to my shoulder, then grabbed its long neck with my jaw and slammed it against the ground; before it could get up I ran towards it and, using my front paws, pressed its body to finally bite its neck hard and with the pressure tear off its head…

"ROOOAAAR!" I screamed with all my strength at the remaining corpse of the Jarjacha and then approached its torn off head and using one of my front paws crushed it, staining my paw with blood and a white liquid. Wiping my paw on the ground, I turned my head towards Porfiria's lifeless, headless body, to begin walking towards her remains slowly. Being almost a few meters away, my step stopped when I saw a figure flying through the air. "It seems this isn't over yet."
