In the world of Butei, Shinji Inoue, also known as "Rust", is a new and unassuming student at Butei High School. Despite his lackluster reputation as a lazy and unmotivated student, he possesses a unique skill set that sets him apart from the rest. Meanwhile, Rio Hikari, a highly skilled and disciplined B Rank Butei, is known for her no-nonsense approach and intolerance for laziness.

When Shinji and Rio are unexpectedly paired together for a mission, they clash due to their vastly different personalities and approaches to Butei work. Shinji's laid-back attitude and lack of motivation frustrate Rio, while Shinji finds Rio to be overly strict and uncompromising. Despite their differences, they must work together to complete the mission assigned to them.
