David's lingering gaze caught Carissa off guard, prompting her to arch an eyebrow in annoyance. "Are you going to keep me in suspense?" she demanded, her tone sharp.
His lips curved into a nonchalant smile as he reached out for her, but she deftly evaded his touch, a scowl forming on her face. "Maybe I should have stayed at the office to finish my work," she muttered, frustration bubbling up inside her.
Before she could storm off, David's arm snaked around her waist, halting her movements. "Honey, I was thinking of... making something special for you," he murmured, his voice tinged with sincerity.
Carissa turned to face him, her expression skeptical. "Make something for me? What's the catch?" she quipped, her skepticism evident.
"I want to cook you a meal," David replied earnestly, his eyes reflecting his determination.
