บท 11: Chapter 11: The moment
While the two were having a bit of fun amid the trouble, the leader of the mission gave the statement, "The species have all been put onto the trucks. Mission successful, we will go back to FURUD"
All of the members of the REDPO1 mission cheered to it in happiness. They were optimistic at the thought that since the mission has been successful, it would leave a good impression on the founders that they would think highly of them.
It was a win-win mission for them. Besides that, every number of the failed and successful missions were being recorded in the personal records for the members of the special units. With the number of successful missions they have, their rank would go higher and would lead to more perks and benefits later on with their service.
It was like a game that level up their individuality.
Since all of the trucks are to be returned to FURUD, Shuzo and Leina's jeep were the only ones that need not be back to FURUD as their vehicle doesn't have any dead species.
Therefore, Shuzo turned to Cuifen and spoke up sternly, "No need to go to FURUD, let's just returned to the unit"
Cuifen's keen eyes turned to look at Shuzo. As she read in between his eyes she realised that he was being serious. Shuzo didn't want to go back to FURUD.
Furthermore, he seems to be worried for his friend Kane as well. It was visible on his face.
Acknowledging it, Cuifen turned to look at Shuzo and inquired questioningly, "Just returned to the cell?!"
Unnerved by it, Shuzo turned to glance at Leina with his serious, intimidating glare.
Feeling disheartened by it, Cuifen spoke up freely trying to ease up the tension, "Ahh...Okay..okay..back to the cell!"
With it, the two of them entered the jeep and waited for all the other trucks to move out from there one after another.
As soon as the trucks moved out from there, Cuifen turned to Shuzo who was sitting beside her in pressure.
She then inquired him in curiosity, "Shuzo, can we go somewhere else using the unit's trucks?! Like going somewhere else for personal reasons?!"
Shuzo turned to glance at Leina fiercely and replied in a sharp tone, "No..!"
Unable to interpret the word he just spoke, Cuifen inquired him in doubt, "But why...?! Since we are working for Vega they should allow us to use the vehicle for personal reasons"
Shuzo wanting to make sure that Leina gets what state they were in, turned to look at her in the eyes, making her focus only on him.
Cuifen's nervous eyes turned to look at Shuzo, while he spoke up worriedly, "Leina, always remember that besides the Vega there is no other safe place on the planet. Therefore, no matter how absurd it is, we have to follow the rules of the Special Unit and stick to it till the end. In that way will we be able to live a good, carefree life"
Flustered by it, Cuifen shooked her head at it. She then turned to look aside with a heavy breath, releasing all the pressure.
Seems like there is no real freedom in that world.
All of the members were being tied to missions and the order of the founders of the Special unit.
There was no difference between them and a puppet and no one seems to mind it as well. They just want to live a safe life and stick to Vega.
As the trucks drove off from there one after another, Cuifen starts the jeep and set the destination back to the Vega.
With it, the two of them were back on the road.
There was an awkward moment of silence in between the air.
Shuzo was acting cool and were seating beside her while Cuifen on the side was focussing on driving the jeep.
As they continued to move on, Cuifen turned to look at the side.
The sun was about to set and the sky was spreading its red colours all over the place. It was a magnificent view.
Excited by it, Cuifen's eyes sparkled as she gawked at the mesmerising sky in awe.
After driving off for a while, she finds a suitable spot on the road and stopped the car.
Alerted by it, Shuzo turned to glance at her while she turned to look at him with a sunny smile on her face. She then spoke up in enthusiasm, "Shuzo, Look! The sky is so beautiful! The sun is about to go home"
Cuifen then opened the window of the front jeep and let him see the setting sun.
It was mesmerisingly beautiful. There was a unique charm in a setting sun.
Cuifen's sparkly eyes turned to him and spoke up enthusiastically, "It's such a waste to let go of this beautiful moment. Why don't we just go there to see the setting sun?!"
Unable to speak a word to it, Shuzo's intoxicating eyes gazed at Leina in dazed.
She was quickly opening up the door and was coming down from it.
She then quickly walked onto Shuzo's side and help him to open the door. With a charming smile, Cuifen spoke to him sunnily, "Come out"
Unable to refuse her, Shuzo subconsciously followed her words and came down from his seat. His tensed mind seems to cool down a little bit with it.
The two were then glimpsing the setting sun together.
From there they saw the view of the ghost city down there. Tall and broken buildings were standing still, on one side of it were the torn buildings being burned down.
With no one living in those cities, there was a feeling of quietness and emptiness in it.
Amidst the space, the beautiful sun was setting slowly and the sky was soaring its beautiful red colours spreading vastly all over the sky. It was so enchantingly beautiful.
It had been ages that Shuzo had appreciated the setting sun.
Even though he and Leina were being sent to mission after mission, they never stopped to witness the setting sun.
Out of nowhere, this Leina was teaching him to appreciate moments, to appreciate the beauty of the setting sun. It was so unlikely of her to do that.
Intrigued by it, Shuzo turned to look at her which was standing beside him in dazed.
It was as if, he never knew this side of Leina before.
