Whispers and gasps could be heard as the lights in the hall went out, darkness falling upon them without a warning. The violinists whose tunes lit the room couldn't be heard, and try as the demons could, their preternatural sight couldn't see through the glittering darkness.

Demons weren't creatures of admirable patience when placed in situations that were unfavorable. They tended to behave like cornered beasts, and were nearly almost unreasonable; so when the stardust settled like a clouding mist of black, their instincts presumed they were in danger and so they struck out when they felt anything brush against them.
