บท 32: 3rd volume prologue

Ragnalia, the daughter of Ignis, the Black Dragon, had no particular desire to attend your Academy. Nor did she have any intention of making friends. With that, my newly appointed servant introduced herself briefly to her future classmates, casting them a disdainful glance.

It seemed as though the temperature in the classroom had dropped several degrees. It was clear that Ragni had no interest in making acquaintances, but there were surely better ways to convey this without being so harsh.

Yesterday, Ignis discussed all the matters with the rector. Somehow, the old man managed to resolve a whole host of issues related to Ragni's accreditation in just one day. After all, dragons hadn't interacted so closely with humans for thousands of years, and there were several discrepancies in the Academy's Charter regarding students' enrollment in the royal army. However, in the end, the princess of black dragons became a student in our class. Ignis insisted that her daughter only receive a stipend for the fourth grade, despite surpassing many fifth-grade students in strength, citing that Ragni was still a young dragoness by dragon standards, and it was too early for her to receive such money.

The biggest surprise was the outfit tailored overnight. I don't know if it's a remnant of the dragons' animal instincts, but the clothing was shortened wherever possible. It outwardly resembled the uniform of the assassin's faculty—a black blouse with a knee-length skirt. But that's where the similarity ended: Ragni's attire exposed her midriff, had a deeper neckline, and a cutout on the back. I speculated that the back remained open to allow her to unfurl her wings. The sleeves were not part of the dress and started just above the elbow. On the belt and shoulder pads, specially made to hold the cape, there were decorations resembling dragon's teeth. And, of course, the cape pattern resembled black scales, with a dragon's head depicted in the middle. On her feet, she wore the same black boots with a silver ribbed ornament, which led one to think that her usual attire was underneath this form.

Dressed in such a provocative manner and not concealing her black horns, Ragni naturally piqued the interest of all the students. However, the disdainful, soul-chilling glares she bestowed upon everyone in her line of sight dissuaded anyone from approaching her.

Now I sat between the two princesses. Tension hung in the air, although most of the time they pretended to sit in complete solitude, but occasionally sparks flew between them. Since the previous battle, relations between the princesses had soured, and I found myself having to intervene occasionally.

So, our guild was in a difficult position. The first assignment had not gone very well, and all the money we earned was spent by the Guild Master even before the task began. The only upside, if it could be considered one, was that now there were three of us. However, I had no idea where we would find two more lunatics willing to join such a guild. Ideally, one of them should take charge of our finances.
