Celeste closed the door behind her and then took off her heels. She sprinted towards her room and locked the door once she closed it.
Her heart beat loudly in her chest.
Ugh, why can't he just leave me alone!? It's an arranged marriage! We don't need to get along! Celeste thought to herself, taking off her jewelry in a hurry, irritated.
"That bad, huh?" a masculine voice said.
Celeste turned on her heel, nearly falling behind if it weren't for the wall.
She put a hand on her chest and exclaimed, "Avond! You scared me! What are you doing in my room?"
Avond, who was silently seated in the corner of her bedroom, comfortable and shrouded in shadows, just smiled. A large, contagious smile that made her heart flutter.
"I just assumed I had free access to your bedroom?" Avond asked with a small, delighted smirk.
