บท 31: Chapter 29: On the March

(On the Next Day)

John, Sora, Vincent, and a small group of soldiers trudged through the dense forest, their boots crunching on fallen leaves and branches. The air was thick with tension as they neared their destination - Mount Shiroyama. It had been a long and treacherous journey, but their mission was crucial. They had to prepare for the orc invasion of Japan, a battle that would be fought with not only modern weaponry, but also the mystical powers and ancient swords bestowed upon them.

As they made their way through the dense forest, the soldiers kept a close eye on their surroundings, wary of any potential risks. The group had managed to gather a small but determined army, a mix of battle-hardened warriors and ordinary citizens who yearned to protect their homeland.

Suddenly, the tranquility of the forest was shattered as they stumbled upon an unexpected group of orcs lying in wait. These were not just any orcs; they were assassins, sent to eliminate any possible threats to their impending invasion. The chilling sight of their sinister grins and razor-sharp weapons sent shivers down the spines of the soldiers.

Without hesitation, John, Sora, Vincent, and their comrades engaged the assassins in a fierce battle. Swords clashed, gunshots occurred in different angles, a symphony of clanging metal and powder filled the air as both sides fought with an unmatched ferocity. The soldiers relied on their superior training and the mystical powers bestowed upon them, while the assassins used cunning and agility to gain the upper hand.

Sora and the other soldiers were providing covering fire, protecting their comrades' back while John and the others were trying to gain the foothold of the skirmish. They didn't see the upcoming event in the midst of the chaos.

But the assassins were formidable opponents, and their numbers seemed endless. The battle raged on, each passing moment stretching into eternity. It began to appear as though the soldiers might be overwhelmed by the relentless onslaught.

Just when hope seemed all but lost, an unexpected alliance emerged from the shadows. A group of misfit orcs, disillusioned by their kind's lust for power, had secretly rebelled against their brethren. Led by an orc named Garok, this ragtag band of defectors proved crucial in tipping the scales of the battle.

Garok's group launched a surprise attack on the assassins, catching them off guard and providing the soldiers with a much-needed advantage. With renewed vigor, the soldiers fought back with newfound strength, their forces swelling as some of Garok's group switched sides in the midst of the chaos.

The tides turned, and the combined might of the soldiers and the rogue orcs overwhelmed the remaining assassins. Victory was within their grasp.

As the dust settled, John, Sora, Vincent, and their companions stood victorious, breathing heavily but elated at their hard-fought triumph. The rogue orcs approached, their expressions a mix of gratitude and relief. Garok stepped forward, extending a hand in gratitude.

"We were lost yet again, filled with anger and hatred, but you showed us a different path, since we've crossed paths" Garok said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Again, we owe you our lives and our loyalty."

John, with a slight smile, grasped Garok's hand firmly. "We fight not for hate, but for the preservation of peace and the protection of all. Together, we can confront the impending orc invasion that has been poisoned your kind once again. We've did this before, and we will do it again".

And so, the soldiers, along with their newfound orc allies, continued their arduous journey to Mount Shiroyama, with determination etched on their faces. Their alliance, once unimaginable, now united in purpose and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. For in this battle for survival, they had learned that sometimes, the most unexpected alliances could be the key to victory.

(After the battle)

As the sun began to set over the rugged terrain, John and Garok found themselves walking side by side amidst the army of soldiers marching towards Mount Shiroyama. John, and the others were found themselves ambushed by the orcs assassins and their new found ally named Garok, a wise and noble orc, were engrossed in a heated conversation about how to halt the relentless advance of the orc horde.

"We must come up with a plan, Garok. We cannot afford to let the orcs invade Japan," John said solemnly, his eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of the approaching enemy.

Garok stroked his long, gray beard, deep in thought. "Indeed, John, but we must also remember that not all orcs are our enemies. Many of them despise the path their kin have taken and yearn for peace."

John nodded, recognizing the wisdom in Garok's words. "You're right. We have seen it ourselves, haven't we? Sora and Vincent have proven to be invaluable allies. Their ability to understand orcish culture and communicate with the friendly orcs has saved us more than once."

Sora and Vincent have a knowledge about orcish culture and language since Eron entered their world, had formed a unique bond with the friendly orcs they encountered. It was through their efforts that they managed to recruit more soldiers and gather information about the orc invasion.

Garok smiled warmly, glad that John acknowledged the importance of unity and inclusivity in their fight. "Yes, Sora and Vincent have shown great leadership skills and respect towards the orcs. Perhaps their understanding can help us convince the friendly orcs to turn against their malevolent brethren."

John nodded, his gaze resolute. "It's worth a try. But first, we need to buy ourselves some time. If we can slow down the orc advance and gather our forces at Mount Shiroyama, we'll have a better chance at repelling their invasion."

As the two men continued their conversation, Sora and Vincent joined them, having overheard their plans. Sora, a skilled archer, and Vincent, a master swordsman, greeted John and Garok with determination in their eyes.

"Sora, Vincent, we need your skills now more than ever," John addressed the young warriors with a serious tone. "We must find a way to stop the orcs from reaching the other side of Japan."

Sora nodded, arrow in hand, ready for battle. "We understand, sir."

Vincent unsheathed his mythical sword, its gleaming blade radiating with mystical energy. "We'll do whatever it takes to protect our homeland and the friendship we have."

With newfound determination, the group continued their march towards Mount Shiroyama, knowing that the fate of Japan rested upon their shoulders. Along the way, they encountered more friendly orcs who shared their longing for peace. Through endless battles and relentless determination, they managed to recruit an army of both humans and orcs who were united against the horde.

As the sun began to set before the lands of Kagoshima, John and Garok found themselves sitting on a small rock ledge, deep in conversation. The air was thick with tension, the weight of their mission heavy on their shoulders. It was up to them to devise a plan to halt the orc invasion of Japan that threatened to plunge their world into chaos.

"Garok, we need to come up with a strategy that will give us an advantage," John said, his voice resolute. "We can't let them reach the cities on the other side. The devastation would be catastrophic."

Garok nodded, his tusks gleaming in the fading light. "I understand the gravity of the situation, John. We must ensure the safety of both our people. It won't be an easy task, but I have an idea."

He reached into a tattered pouch and pulled out a worn map of the mountain. "Deep within Mount Shiroyama lies a hidden chamber," Garok explained, pointing at a barely visible symbol on the map. "Legend has it that this chamber holds a legendary sword, forged by the ancient gods themselves. It's said to possess immense power, capable of turning the tide in any battle. This sword was found by the man named Saigo Takamori before he met his end, and he ordered his men to hide that sword forever."

Garok added "Because of power of that sword terrifies him, and realize the truth before him so, he did that".

John's eyes widened in amazement. "Wow, I never knew this blade existed, Garok where did you find this information?"

Garok hummed and smiled "I managed to learn the books that was hidden in the Imperial Castle, so I read them in secret".

John was shocked and decided to share his idea "I see, if we can retrieve this mythical sword, we could use it as a last resort if our defenses fail. That might be our ultimate weapon," he said, his voice filled with hope.

Garok nodded appreciatively. "Indeed. But the path to the chamber is treacherous and filled with unknown. We'll need to gather as many allies as possible to face the challenges that await us."

John looked around and saw the people around him, were on the edge. Soldiers and conscripts were trying their best to defend their homeland and proud that they defend not from themselves but the whole human race.

With friendly orcs at their side, they have some small arguments whether they to be trusted or not. Once they were proved that they ate different from their orcish counterparts, by teaching them how to fight, defend and fought side by side until the end.

"Garok, we need more soldiers," John spoke decisively. "We have to gather the remaining men and recruit those who are willing to fight."

Garok nodded in agreement. "I will rally my orc allies. There are many among us who wish to prevent the destruction that their brethren bring. With the combined forces of humans and orcs, we will have a chance."

John stared at the evening skies and nodded "May your ancestors be proud for what you have stand to defend your honor and values who defined who you are".

Garok nodded and replied "May our friendships will never be forgotten".

John and Garok shake their hands and hugged in new brotherly loved that was formed within them.

Now they have a job to do.
