While the women are in the kitchen, my husband entertains my father in the study. I'm sure they're talking business as usual. Mariano told me that by the end of this year, my father should've already established an SVR branch here in Chicago. This is what my father is great at, branching out, and making fruitful business decisions.

Most of the men in my family are like that. They're not afraid to take risks, hence we have several business ventures ranging from thumbtacks to jet planes. Over the years, although very slowly, they're trying to lean away from illegal operations.

I'm sure it's not easy, given this is what they've all known since they started learning numbers. It's been ingrained in their heads so deeply, it's part of them.
