(1) A person's word weighs nine cauldrons: an idiom to mean that someone's word holds great weight, i.e. they would not renege on a promise. The nine cauldrons are in reference to the ancient vessels with three legs and two handles and were historically made of ritual bronze and very heavy. They were also regarded as symbols of authority.
