I hunched over my laptop, now resting on the kitchen counter, and sat next to Dad as his thick fingers tapped with far more agility than I gave him credit for while his lowered voice filled me in. Not that Mom wasn't well aware we were up to shenanigans-her word-but I had the feeling he was having far too much fun and if he raised his voice he'd be shouting.
