"Up to the 5th floor not much changes, just goblins, kobold and the addition of lizard men." Rose adds a couple more maps of the first 5 floors and then a new monster which is a large green humanoid lizard with rough green scales all over its body, razor sharp teeth, a long tail.
"Lizard man hide can be sold for a decent price, however it takes time to skin them and usually it's not worth it. Besides it's too burdensome to carry in a single person group so its preffered to take the magic stone and move on. Usually large groups would take down wagons and kill some on the way back to make some decent money on the side. It's often used for strong leather armor as the scales are quite tough, most blades will have trouble cutting through the tough scales and get damaged quickly unless they have sharpening enchantments." She says.
"I should be fine." if not I'll just fry them with lightning. Zap zap!
I go over the 2 new creatures and look at the maps that show the fastest way down and back up in case of emergencies.
"Here are some of the basic contracts for familia, at least the higher ranking ones." She says pulling out a few pieces of paper.
Going over it most of it is rather simple, weekly pay depending on rank, time required to be in the dungeon either as a porter to higher level members to carry things or do some group fighting in some of the higher floors trying to improve. The contract can be renegotiated with a level up to increase pay, you can also request more status upgrades, training time with higher ranked members, things like that. Contracts with a higher membership time such as 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, etc. Increase in benefits the longer you sign on for. You won't lose your level or anything once you are released, however you won't be able to level up anymore until you find another familia. There are usually stipulation to contracts so they can't just sell you into slavery, or force you into prostitution.
Of course there are things like renting equipment and if you lose it you have to pay for it in full and you can't take it when you leave, you also need to pay for damages done to equipment belonging to the familia.
It goes over group split rates for loot as well so that is solved. Mostly it's all distributed based either on contribution or evenly which is decided when the group is formed. Porters earn a small percentage as well for carrying everything even if they don't fight. They also have to get out the crystals and any other items, basically little looters.
Wasn't there some little dog girl who roamed around offering to help people like that? I'll have to check, would save me some time.
"Seems simple enough." I look over the various contracts, some however seem a bit harsh and I wouldn't want to join.
"Most of the lower ranking familia don't have contracts. They usually just work on trust, however you could bring a standard contract to them and most would be happy to sign it should you get rid of the pay parts." Rose says showing a simple contract, you sign up with a familia mainly for rank up, you could also pay for it which works out for some familia. Nobody really loses, you pay the god or goddess for their time, but you also run the risk of them selling your information once the contract is up.
Ugh, no thanks.
"And the familia?" I ask.
"Going to take a bit more time." Rose says.
"That's fine. I'm not in too much of a rush to get falna." I admit looking over the lizardman and Kobold pictures.
It would be awesome if I had the items I need to make bullets, would make hunting much faster.
"You should be, you keep going into the dungeon and aren't gaining any excellia, just money." Rose says with a frown.
"I'm sharpening my skills, it's also another way to get stronger besides I haven't even gotten a scratch on me." I tell her. "I don't even leave the first floor and most level 1's train there with the same stats so it wouldn't be much of a change if I did get falna."
"I still don't like you going into the dungeon with no falna." She says with a frown.
"I'm being careful, and like I said it's only the first floor." I try to calm the woman down.
She just glares at me.
Sighing I make sure I have the maps memorized. "Alright I'll be back in a bit."
"Hmph."
Shaking my head I grab my sword and head for the dungeon, I'll save up a little at a time. Besides the situation in the room was becoming a little tense making it hard to study.
Once I'm inside the dungeon. "Haste!" a light flashes around my body and I feel a small drain on my mana. I quickly take off at nearly 3 times the speed I normally move at.
It doesn't take long to find my first goblin of the day. Raising my hand. "Thunder!" the air crackles with electricity as a blue bolt of lightning cracks out, the smell of ozone fills the air followed by the smell of burnt flesh. The goblin was fried instantly by the snake like lightning bolt.
"Neat." I pull out my dagger and cut out the crystal quickly before moving on.
The next goblin was just as unlucky. "Thundara!" a thick lightning bolt maybe the size of an arm booms out making my hair stand on end from electricity, this time the bolt of lightning not only fries the goblin but blasts through it. The drain was a decent chunk more than normal thunder but nothing special I could easily cast this a couple more times no problem. Plus my mana seems to recover rather quickly even while using Haste.
