บท 25: 25. Familiar.
"I'll head off to the guild to sell the stones I gathered today and see what I need to do to register Boko as my tamed monster. I'll also see if i can't order a cart made for him and a couple of other items." I pat the large bird as it vanishes into motes of light.
"Okay, do you need more money?" She asks.
"Probably. I dunno how much everything would cost." I admit.
She pulls out some of the cash from the safe and passes it over while I grab my bags and head off towards the guild.
Once there I let Rose calculate all the loot from the day. "Much less than normal. Did something happen?" She asks with a frown before passing me money.
"You could say that, what do I have to do to register a tamed beast? Well it's more like a magical summon, but still." I ask.
"You got a magical summon?" Rose asks in shock.
"Yeah, sadly I had to update my status plate, I can show you my stats but I won't be revealing my skills." I tell her pulling out my status page and passing it over.
She grabs it and quickly reads it before her eyebrows shoot to her hairline.
"You can already level up?! It's only been a few days, what's with that absurd magic stat?" She hisses quietly.
"Well I use a lot of magic." I shrug, plus it might have something to do with my body producing materia like some kind of magic generator.
"This is ridiculous!" She says with a frown.
"So about that registry for my summon?" I ask.
She frowns for a second. "Can it listen and take orders?"
"Yes."
"Will it attack people?" She questions.
"If attacked first or provoked sure. But otherwise it is peaceful." I admit.
"We would have to have it looked over by the Ganesha familia, they are the people in charge of tamed monsters. Should it prove to be safe around the city then we can give you a monster tamer permit allowing you to have your own tames in the city. There are of course other laws such as any damages done by your tamed creature are your responsibility and you will be fined for them and expected to pay them. If your summon attacks someone unprovoked you would be in charge of medical fee or healing for the person, however if they provoke or harm your summon they will be required to pay fees for medical damage and fined for assault." She says searching under the counter for some legal paperwork and grabbing it. "You need a guild member to witness the creature and describe it, also to be present when the testing of the Ganesha family happens, this way everything can be signed off on and done properly. A tamers license is 10,000 vali for coverage of all testing and the license. You will not be refunded if your creature fails to pass the tests."
I pull out some cash and pass it over before signing my name on the paperwork. Mostly making me liable for damages but also allowing me and my summon to defend ourselves if provoked.
"A license will also be given to the summoned beast to be worn in the city at all times to show that it is indeed a tamed creature and not to be attacked. This will be provided once the paperwork is done. Now then let's go see if the Ganesha familia is free." She signs her papers and files them before grabbing a clipboard and pen.
Heading out the the guild we move towards the Ganesha family Coliseum. There is a large statue of an elephant man that we have to walk through to enter.
There is a receptionist at the front we approach that Rose approaches. "I have someone looking to recieve a tamers license and have their creature looked at. All the paperwork has been signed off on from the guild side. Is there anyone free for testing?" Rose asks and hands over some paperwork.
The receptionist looks at the paperwork before handing it back. "I can go check and see, one moment please." the woman says heading into the back.
A couple minutes later she comes back out with a burly looking man who looks around curiously.
"Where is the creature?" He asks with some confusion.
"I have to summon it, one moment." i turn to a large open area and call out. "Chocobo!"
There is a small flash of light as the large yellow bird pops into view.
"Wark!" It warbles happily before i pat its chest.
"Never seen anything like that before." The Ganesha familia member says. "What's it called?"
"It's species is a chocobo, his name is Boko." o tell the man.
Rose writes down all the information and has an overwhelming urge to pet the large happy looking birb.
"What does it eat?" The adventurer asks.
"Mostly vegetables, fruits or nuts. Just think of it like a big horse." I tell him.
"Can he fly?"
"Nope, they are runners but they can glide." I answer.
"Any special abilities?"
"It can attack using a magical attack in the form of a ball it spits up and it can heal minor wounds with a song." I explain. Boko warbles and our body is covered in a soothing green aura.
"And the attack?" The adventurer asks. "That way please." he points to an open area.
Boko pulls his head back before spitting out a large blueish magical ball which smashes into the ground and leaves a small pothole.
"Is it alright to touch?" The man asks.
Boko nods. "Sure."
The large adventure walks up and rubs the large birds chest who warbles. "Alright then Boko, I'm going to give you some commands you need to follow then this test will be over okay?"
"Wark!"
The man makes him sit, jump, run beside him, wait, come, go to certain areas, just basic orders anyone should be able to follow even feeding him some apples. Boko passes perfectly. He even allows the man to ride him around the arena and boy is he fast.
The man hops off with a laugh and pat's the big bird. "This is an amazing creature, I wish our monsters behaved half as well." he say with a grin. "Well Boko passed my test with flying colors, he listens incredibly well. I would like to invite a couple more familia members to see how he reacts with multiple people then the test will be done."
"Sure."
He heads back inside and comes out with about 10 more familia member who look at the large bird curiously.
Boko preens under the attention and enjoys some quality pats and free apples. Even Rose joins in on the fun feeding and patting the bird.
"Do you guys make things like saddles and carts? I was planning to have some made so he can join me in the dungeon." I ask the man in charge of the test.
"We do actually, we would have to do some measurements and see how much he could pull and hold comfortably but I'm sure we could design him a cart and saddles." The man says.
"Perfect."
"Anyway I believe the test is over, you guys passed." He says signing off on the paperwork along with Rose.
