บท 10: Hiatus
For two days Marion had just locked herself in her room. She had no desire to get out of there if Shana had not come to see her.
However, even when Shana was there, Marion did not want to discuss the contents of the contract between herself and William which she had not even signed at all. She didn't want Shana or anyone else to end up making fun of her for being verbally abused by her boss.
Is it okay if she says it's an insult? Because that's the truth, right?
How could it be said that it was natural if she initially thought she would be a real personal assistant, instead, it was just a cover to become a mistress.
"You perverted boss! Let him find someone else he can treat like that. I will never want to be that kinda girl till I die!" she cursed, monologued.
Marion plopped down on the bed, staring at the empty ceiling and thinking only of William in the end. And that of course made her even more nervous.
"What's the matter with me? I've never felt this strange before. But now ... it feels as if the man won't let me go. I don't know what his purpose in hiring me was."
Her thoughts were interrupted by Shana's arrival. The girl had been visiting more frequently since Marion had said that she might never return to work with William again.
"Marion, think again. Are you really going to resign just because you don't fit the job? What if Mr. Reynz asked you to come back? You know, some of the guys from the division said that the man never gave out a contract before. You are the only one. That means he matches your performance."
Indeed, Shana knew about the contract. Only about the contract, not the content. And Marion just said that the content of the contract was too difficult for her to do.
"If he burdens with the job, it means he believes you can, Marion. Come on ..." added Shana, not wanting to give up until she managed to get Marion back to work.
Marion did not want to respond to Shana's words with any statement. Because actually what the girl said was proof that that was all she knew.
"Marion ...."
"Shana ... really I'm not sure about this. That Mr. Reynz ... he's a tough guy, Shana. I'm just scared—"
"You can do it! My Marion is amazing and smart. You can do anything, Marion. Do you remember when Mrs. Adams asked you to make a pattern for a dress she wanted, and she only gave you three days? And you can do it!"
"Shana, that's different."
"Oh, or when you were in an accident, but Mrs. Adams asked you to come to work. Do all the work she gave you and you were able to. Do you remember?"
"Shana ...."
"Marion! It's not her job that sets all the examples I give, it's who you work with. Mrs. Adams is the fussiest manager, you know that, right? But you can control everything."
Marion just sighed heavily. If Shana knew that whatever she said was still not equivalent to what happened to Marion this time, would she still persuade Marion to keep working for William?
"Please, Shana, let me think for a moment. I just don't want what I choose later to be because I'm too rash."
And if Marion said all, then that means she leaked the contents of the contract which means she has betrayed William.
So why if so?
Hadn't a man as William misbehaved with her? So it's fine if she leaks out the contents of that disgusting contract, right?
Maybe it is. However, after all, Marion is not a girl who can just let everything happen or pass without knowing the reason.
So what is the reason William only gave a contract to Marion, if what Shana said is true?
Does William have a specific goal for Marion?
Or maybe out of all the women he has made assistant to, only Marion has met his expectations? Is that true?
Or is it because Marion is different from other girls that William is attracted to and wants to have the girl all to himself? Was that why he made the contract even though it was disgusting to Marion?
Marion shook his head vigorously.
Still, this was all ridiculous to her.
Even before the strange clauses and points added by William, she had already experienced unnatural things. So why should there be such an article?
And don't forget, Marion is still wondering about what happened that time.
The pine forest, the pack of dogs or whatever animal she heard moaning, the hostage-taking to the fire ... could she forget? Certainly not.
So why didn't William explain anything about it at all?
Wasn't she with William then, in his car that he drove into the woods? Why was the man still dodging it when Marion asked what had happened to her?
"Enough, Shana ... we'd better see how this story about a job that seems ridiculous to me goes. As to whether I'll come back later, accept this job with all the weirdness and unusualness that bothers my senses or not, I can't promise anything."
Shana just sighed when she heard the firm statement that came out of her best friend's mouth. She knew Marion very well—a cave girl with a strong stand. She must have had a myriad of reasons that she might not be able to convey until she decided to leave the job that was the dream of many employees at Reynz's company.
However, there was something else that intrigued Shana—what was on Marion's mind, that she wanted to ask. However, at that moment, suddenly there was a knock on the girl's door.
Shana got up and headed for the door to greet the guest who had come at this inopportune time.
What brought the guest, standing there hoping that Marion would greet him? Unfortunately, the girl was in no mood to meet anyone.
Shana didn't want to surprise herself more than usual. Because this was not a dream that came in broad daylight, but of course, success made her wonder.
A man with tall, sturdy stature, a charming look that he never seemed to use as an excuse to seduce many women. Because what was displayed in front of Shana at this time was not a familiar and overly friendly style, but a very real cold and unfriendly expression.
It was hard for Shana to believe that she was now directly seeing the appearance of this handsome man, which she had only heard about through word of mouth.
Who else?
"I-Is there anything I can help you with? What's the purpose of your coming here?" asked Shana, stammering. Should she ask, even though she clearly knew the purpose of the arrival of the number one man in Reynz company?
"Can I see Marion? There's something I want to talk to her about."
Shana was truly stunned by the figure standing in front of her. This was the first time she had seen such a rare sight. Moreover, this man ... he was looking for Marion, a cave girl who was rarely visited by men especially those who had a charming appearance like this man.
"Y-you ...."
"William Reynz. Tell her. And I will not leave until this matter is settled with her signature on the contract I have provided. And I'm not going far from this place either until she's back to work as usual."
