As Hayama Kazuto took a deep breath, the refreshing aroma of soil and grass enveloped the air around him. With a leisurely rise, he stood up, the players from Sobu High School gathering around the goal, their expressions etched with a mix of anger and frustration. Hayato, known for his laid-back nature, struggled to contain his rage in this very moment.
"Come on, make a way! We're in the last minute, and I've still got plans to score another goal," Kazuto quipped, a mischievous grin playing on his lips, his eyes glinting with a hint of mockery. Step by step, he advanced steadily.
"Kazuto! Who do you think you are, toying with Hayato like that?"
"Don't think that just because you're skilled, you can play around with us from Sobu!"
"If you don't apologize to Hayato, you better watch your back when you're walking alone at night!"
Kazuto's words landed like a splash of cold water in a searing pan, igniting an immediate explosion within the Sobu team. The eleven players pressed in even tighter, forming a human wall that blocked Toyogasaki High School's players, making it impossible for even the referee to squeeze through.
"What about the injuries I've suffered? How do you explain that?" Kazuto pointed to his left leg, where the bloodstains on his white socks had turned brown.
"If you're truly injured, shouldn't you leave the field?" Tobe raised an eyebrow with a provocative remark.
"Oh?" Kazuto's voice turned icy as he shifted his gaze towards Hayato. "And what about you, Hayato? Do you share the same opinion?"
Hayato's eyes shifted away slightly as Kazuto mentioned his name. "Well, we did make a mistake and unintentionally hurt you earlier, but it truly was just an accident..."
"How convenient that after Haruno left, these 'accidents' kept happening," he sneered.
...
Hayama Kazuto made his way towards the South Stand, effortlessly scaling it with a single hand, and approached Kato and her friends.
"Are you okay? How's your foot?" Ginko glanced up at Hayama but quickly averted her gaze when their eyes met.
"I'm fine. It's just a small scrape." he raised his left leg a bit. It was true that Sobu had made contact with him, but he had quickly pulled back upon noticing the bleeding, resulting in minimal harm to him.
"How is that even possible? Your socks are completely soaked in blood!"
Ginko's concerned tone had a touch of cuteness. He smiled and replied, "I'll explain later, at the gymnasium."
"Hey, Hayama, do you need a spray?" Kato suddenly had a spray bottle and a pack of cotton swabs in her hand.
"Thanks, Kato." he accepted the items and swiftly stashed them inside a small bag on the ground.
"Are you still heading to the gymnasium? In that case, I won't bother you," Utaha said. After witnessing the entire game, she was suddenly filled with inspiration and just wanted to go home and start writing.
"Take care. No need to see us off."
Utaha glanced at him with a hint of annoyance. If she weren't brimming with inspiration at the moment, she would have definitely engaged in an argument with him. He would call her Senpai when he needed help, but he couldn't even be bothered to offer a proper greeting when there was nothing going on. He's quite the manipulator!
As the game concluded, the audience began to disperse gradually, departing one by one. Once Kasumigaoka Utaha departed, only a handful of individuals lingered in the stands.
Yukinoshita Yukino sat upright on the North Stand, emanating an aura of untouchable grace, akin to that of an unblemished goddess. However, a subtle glint of aloofness in her eyes somewhat diminished her goddess-like image.
Kazuto slung the small bag over his shoulder and retrieved his phone. He sent a message to Yukino: "Follow me. Meet me at the gymnasium."
Observing Kazuto walking alongside the two girls, Yukino's cold expression deepened. But despite her reluctance, she rose to her feet. With graceful strides, she trailed behind Kazuto and the two girls, making her way leisurely across the soccer field.
"Yukinoshita, where are you going?" Hayato stood near the soccer field, observing Hayama Kazuto and the others from a distance. His emotions were complex. This was the first time he had spoken to her since Yukino's return to the country.
"This matter has nothing to do with you, Hayato-kun," Yukino glanced briefly at Hayato, her words carrying a hint of evasion. She didn't wish to engage in conversation with him at this moment.
"Did Haruno ask you to go?"
"You should direct that question to my sister," her tone suddenly shifted, becoming somewhat firm and tinged with impatience.
"I'm sorry, Yukino," Hayato's gaze dimmed, and his golden hair seemed to lose some of its luster. It didn't feel good to have his suspicions confirmed as harsh reality.
Yukino didn't say anything further. She jogged past Hayato who stood in her way. Kazuto and the others had already walked quite far. If she didn't catch up quickly, she wouldn't even know where the gymnasium was.
...
On the rooftop...
"Who's that girl? Why does the Great Demon King change completely when he's with her? His aura just disappears, Death! And she even noticed me!"
Sanae sat on the ground, utterly shocked. The look Kato gave her earlier was filled with undeniable hostility.
"Could it be... Could she be the Shadow Queen, the master of the Dark Dimension, the ultimate embodiment of evil?"
"No, there's no doubt! It has to be true! That explains why I can never locate Snow Woman and the Abyssal Succubus when she's around! It's the supreme power of the Shadow Queen—Fate Nullification!"
...
Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
On the table, a screen displayed footage of Hayama Kazuto effortlessly toying with Hayama Hayato.
A short-haired boy rested his chin on his hand, captivated by what he saw.
"Indeed, that's the true power of Hayama Kazuto! His soccer skills are top-notch and impossible to ignore. He's the undisputed king of soccer!"
"That idiot Hayato thinks he can challenge Kazuto? It's honestly laughable!"
"Hayama Kazuto, I might not be able to compete with you in academics, but when it comes to soccer... I hope you'll surprise me when we face off on the field!"
