บท 17: Chapter 17_ Eve
Alice got to Eve compound and rings on the alarm bell. "Coming," A voice said and seconds later the door was opened. A nice looking woman came out.
"Hello ma'am,"
"Hi young lady, are you looking for someone?"
"Yes ma, I guess you are eve mom, I'm…."
"Eve?" She asked cutting in her words, "Nope, I'm not."
Alice didn't get what she said; she went further to introducing herself. "Okay. I'm Alice, eve friend. I came…"
"Who's Eve?" She interrupted
"Sorry?" she asked making sure she heard the right words.
"Eve you said, doesn't live here. I'm a childless mother."
"Sorry ma'am, but I mean Evelyn Adams, and sure this is her resident because I most times dropped her off at the gate."
"I'm sorry young lady, that friend of yours must have made a fool at of you."
"B.., But she told me.., I stuttered confusedly and ashamed while the woman folded and hands and stare at me. I became speechless immediately and I walk like a zombie out of the compound with my head on the ground, my heart in regret and my mind in thoughts.
"What's going on?" I mumbled to myself as I get to my car. I look back at the mansion again. "Does this really mean Eve had been lying to me all along? Is this why…," I hesitated and has a memory flashed back.
FLASH BACK
At school, I, Eleanor and Eve all stand outside at school closed. Soon, Eleanor driver came in a dark shaded car. "I have to leave now bitches." Eleanor said and left.
I was about walking into the car when eve stopped me. "Alice can you drop me at house, my driver isn't coming today."
"Sure," I said and she hopped in.
Minute later, we arrived Eve mansion. She get down and wave me goodbye and waited for me to leave. I drive on. Not quite long, I look at my side mirror and saw Eve walking back.
END OF FLASH BACK
"So this isn't actually her house. I can believe I have been fooled by that wreck bitch."

Eve mother was at eve bedroom holding unto Eve picture and crying her eyes out. It was rainy heavily outside.
"Eve, my child, where are you?" She murmured crying. "I don't even know any of your friends because you never introduce any to know. So who do I go to?" she murmured again and then Katherine flashes to her mind. "Katherine," she stated, "Yes, Katherine, she's the only friend of my daughter I know of, I should look for her, she meant know something." She concluded and put on her jacket, takes her umbrella and run out into the rain.
Katherine was Eve best friend until one day. They had known each other since they were both in middle school. Katherine was average rich just like Eve. Her mother owns a grocery store and her father was a taxi driver unlike Eve whose mother was just an ordinary petty farmer and she knew nothing about her father since childhood. They got separated when Eve got a scholarship into kloger high and she started going out with the rich kids. She never wanted her friends to know about her status or found her with Katherine so she had to end things up with Katherine just to maintain her fake status.
Katherine was in her mother shop that evening when she suddenly saw eve mother standing before her, socked by the rain. She was astonished as she wasn't expecting her anytime soon.
"Mrs. Adams" She called
Minutes later, Mrs. Adams shattered beneath a tree. At this time, the rain had stopped. Katherine walked to her with a cup of hot coffee. She handed it to her but she rejected it.
"It'll keep you warm." Katherine said but she refused with a head shake. She gave up and sat down beside her. "I'm sorry about your daughter disappearance."
Mrs. Harry then turned to Katherine and asks, "You knew about it?" And she nodded. "My Mom told me about it."
"Katherine, you're her closest to my daughter. You must have known here she is right?"
"I actually have no idea where she is right now."
"But you use to know everything about her."
"That was then Mrs. Adams, not anymore. We have long separated from being friend. She had new friends now. You should ask her new friends in Kloger."
"That's the problem; I know none of her friends. She never introduces any to me." She wiped the tear dripping from her eyes and went on, "Do you by any chance know any of her friend's addresses"
Katherine hesitated for a while and then answers, "I think I do."
