"The Fairy Law?!"
Erza gasped, wide-eyed, as she heard Knight mention it.
Juvia, on the other hand, looked puzzled. "Super magic?"
"That's one of our guild's three legendary spells!" Erza explained, her face serious. She had heard from Master Makarov about the Law of Fairies—a powerful magic said to deliver absolute judgment. It was a spell of holy light, vanquishing all the caster deemed an enemy. But Laxus knew this magic too?
As she tried to make sense of it, Juvia grew anxious, wanting to rush to Knight's aid.
Erza quickly grabbed her arm, holding her back. "Don't. It's a duel. We can only watch and let them settle it."
"How did you know?" Laxus frowned deeply.
Even among his closest allies, few were aware he had mastered the Fairy Law—a secret, even from his Thunder God Tribe.
"I guessed," Knight replied, floating calmly in the air, a gentle smile on his face. "It's the only card you've got left if you want a chance at winning."
"Hmph. There's no need for that!" Laxus scoffed, bending slightly before launching himself skyward like a missile.
With a loud whoosh, he closed the distance between them in a blink, his fist crackling with violent lightning as it hurtled towards Knight's chest.
But Knight, still smiling, dodged effortlessly. "You can't even touch me," he teased, sidestepping every punch and kick with graceful precision.
Laxus gritted his teeth. His inability to fly put him at a clear disadvantage. He had to rely on short bursts of air time to unleash his attacks, but no matter how fast he moved, Knight danced around him, never letting a single hit land.
Before long, Laxus dropped back down to the beach, panting slightly, his frustration building.
"It's not over yet!" he growled, eyes locked on Knight. He formed a glowing ball of lightning in his hand. "Lightning Bomb!"
The attack shot towards Knight in rapid succession, each orb of electricity growing in size as it neared its target.
Knight barely moved. In an instant, he disappeared from sight.
The barrage of lightning sailed harmlessly through the space where he had been, exploding into a dazzling show of sparks far above the coastline.
Laxus cursed under his breath. "Teleportation magic… just great."
With a sigh, he landed back on the beach, his frustration mounting. How could he defeat an opponent who seemed impossible to hit?
As Laxus considered his next move, he suddenly sensed Knight behind him.
"Are you really going to hold back? If you don't use Fairy Law, you've already lost," Knight taunted softly, raising his fist and charging it with a vibrating, almost ethereal force.
Before Laxus could react, the punch landed squarely against his waist, sending a shockwave of pain through his body. It was as if his insides shattered like glass. His defenses had been completely bypassed.
In a blur, Laxus flew through the air, crashing into the sea with a colossal splash.
Knight watched him fly, thinking to himself, I held back… He shouldn't be seriously hurt.
But the sea churned, and golden light began to rise from its depths.
"RAAAGH!"
Laxus erupted from the water with a roar, his body shimmering with golden magic as the seawater around him vaporized from sheer energy.
Knight watched, impressed. The sheer magic output of a five-star wizard like Laxus was staggering. He couldn't afford to waste a drop of his own energy like that.
"Lightning Body!" Laxus bellowed, summoning a suit of crackling electricity around him. His body surged with power, greatly enhancing his speed, strength, and defenses.
With a flash, Laxus charged again, faster than before. His electrified palm aimed to paralyze Knight with a single touch.
But Knight vanished, reappearing a hundred meters away.
Frustrated, Laxus growled, "Still too fast…"
"Are you going to give up?" Knight teased from the distance.
Laxus gritted his teeth. If his lightning-boosted speed wasn't enough, he needed more. His body crackled, muscles tensed, and he began chanting.
"What resounds through the sky is the roar of thunder, a storm that shall reduce everything to ash!"
The sky darkened, thunderclouds gathering overhead as the air crackled with energy.
Knight looked up, mildly impressed. "So, you can change the weather now? This could get interesting."
Nearby, Leon's companions grew nervous as they watched. "Leon, we should move! That lightning's going to engulf this whole beach!"
"I've heard of Laxus, but who's that other guy? He's holding his own!"
Leon, however, remained silent, his eyes fixed on the battle.
Back in the forest, Erza watched in disbelief. "Laxus's power is incredible… But Knight's spatial magic…" Her brow furrowed. "He wasn't serious with me, was he?"
The realization hit her. Knight had toyed with her during their duel, letting her believe she had a chance. Her fists clenched, a wave of embarrassment rushing over her. He's been holding back this entire time!
"Lord Knight…" Juvia whispered dreamily, clutching her hands to her chest as she watched the battle with starry eyes.
Laxus laughed maniacally, raising his hand toward the storm above. "You're giving me all the time I need, Knight! You'll regret it!"
Knight sipped his coffee, unbothered. "Go ahead. Waste your magic."
With a furious cry, Laxus unleashed his ultimate move. "Thunder Crash Wave!"
Lightning rained down from the sky in massive bolts, hammering the beach with enough force to turn the sand into glass.
For several moments, the coastline was a chaotic mess of sand and electricity, the air thick with the smell of ozone.
When the dust finally settled, Laxus stood panting in the center of the wreckage, his eyes scanning the ruins for any sign of Knight.
"Where is he?!" Laxus growled. "He couldn't have dodged that…"
A voice echoed from behind him. "I told you. You can't hit me."
Laxus spun around in disbelief.
There stood Knight, calmly sipping his cup of hot coffee.
"You—! Don't mock me!" Laxus shouted, his body suddenly swelling as his arms bulged with raw power.
Knight raised an eyebrow. "Oh? The second stage already?"
Thunder Dragon scales began appearing on Laxus' skin as his power reached new heights.
"Thunder Dragon Slayer!"
