บท 22: Chapter 19: hatching an egg
A/n: sorry for the late chapter, I have mentalll been through alot recently. not sure if I can post a new chapter before christmas.

year 778
Albion POV
It has been a year since I started staying at the Heartfilia estate and train Lucy and Brandish. I had them do physical and magic training; since strengthening their bodies will help them in the long run.
During that time I also trained with Kurnugi while mom went back to Guiltina, using swords that were made with my [wood make magic]. Sometimes the training gets so intense that the swords would break, but with my [wood make magic] I could create new swords for training.
I thought to make more durable swords by strengthening my [wood make magic] with my [wood dragon slayer magic]; but since they are being used for training with a dragon rather then life or death battles, I decided against it and just use extra magic power to make more durable wooden swords.
He taught me the [kurnugi style sword art], his own sword style as the sword saint dragon. I remember that in the original timeline that a guy named Suzaku became the sword saint dragon slayer after eating Kunugis flesh andcreated the [kurnugi style drawing art]. Kurnugi taught me his own techinques before developing my own by combining my other magic with it.
Half of the time that I trained Lucy and Brandish, I used the [training gate]. But every time I trained with Kurnugi, I used the [training gate] since our training can get intense. I also made sure to work on my [celestial law] spell.
After the latest training session with Kurnugi, I was taking a walk in the garden and I noticed something falling from the sky. It looks like an egg. Oh right, this was the time that the exceed queen from Edolas sent their children into Earthland.
I use [sky dragon slayer magic] to generate wind to lift me into the air to catch the egg. When I get close to it, I notice that the egg has black patterns on it. If the color of the pattern is anything to go on, then the exceed in this egg would have black fur.
(A/n: since Happy's egg had blue markings and Carla's egg had white markings which seemed to correspond with the color of their fur.)
After catching the egg, I slowly lower myself and the egg to the ground using my [sky dragon slayer magic] and use [wood dragon slayer magic] make a tree grow under me to help the descent.
Me:"I got you." I said said to the egg as I land on the trees leaves.
I then jumped out of the tree and head to the main house to show Lucy, Brandish and the others.

10 minutes later
Jude:"So while you were walking in the garden you saw this egg falling grom the sky and you caught it and brought it here?" he asked after I explained how I found the egg.
Me:"Yes."
Layla:"Is it a dragons egg?" she asked.
Me:"Judging by its scent it is not a dragons egg."
I am not lying, the egg didn't have the scent of a dragon since a dragon didn't lay it.
Jude:"Are you going take care of whatever hatches from that egg?"
Me:"Yes I am." I said with a serious look on my face.
Layla then looked at me with a smile on her face and then turned to her susband and started speaking.
Layla:"I think we can allow him to keep the egg, he hasnt steered us wrong before."
After Layla spoke, Jude then sighed and spoke.
Jude:"Very well, but you are responsible for whatever hatches."
Me:"I understand."
*knock knock*
After I said that, there was a knock on the door to which Jude said "come in." to which the door opened slightly to reveal to girls,one with blonde hair and one with green hair.
The two girls then ran up to me and see the egg I am holding, then they tily their heads and start talking.
Lucy:"Where did that big egg come from?" she asked.
Me:"I found it while I was walking in the garden after my training with Kurnugi."
Brandish:"Is something fluffy going to hatch from the egg?" she asked with sparkles in her eyes.
Me:"Kukuku. Maybe, you never know." I said while chuckling.
I always find it funny in the anime how Brandish gets when she I near something fluffy or thinks about something fluffy.
Kurnugi:"So you found an egg while walking huh?"
Me:"Yeah brother. I say it falling from the sky, so I caught it and brought it back."
Kurnugi:"Interesting. It looks like a dragon egg but it doesn't smell like a dragon egg."
Me:"I thought the same thing when I caught it."
I then told Kurnugi that I will be taking care of what hatches from the egg, he had no objections to my decision. So everyone agreed that I would take care of the egg. Then Brandish came up to me with a shy expression and started.
Brandish:"Can I hold the egg?" she asked with a blush on her face.
Me:"Sure, just be careful." I said as I handed her the egg.
As she held the egg, she had a big smile on her face; it is like she knows that there is a cat in the egg. It makes me wonder if she has a fluffy detector in her head.
After she held the egg for 2 minutes, the egg started to shake itself from her grasp and bounced into my arms. I think the kitten must have been nervous that Brandish was going to squeeze them to death.
Brandish:"Aww." she said with a sad look on her face.
When I saw that look on her face, I put the egg umder my left arm and walked up to her and put my right hand on her head and start petting her. causing her to look up at me.
Me:"It is ok Brandish, there will be another chance. So cheer up." I said while petting her head to reassure her.
Brandish:"Okay." she said with a reluctant smile as she leaned into my hand.
It seems that she cheered up a little. I notice that Layla and Gramy had a big smile on their faces as they watch my interaction with Brandish. I then turn to see Lucy looking at us with a pouty face, is she jealous that I'm petting Brandish but not her?
I then went up to Lucy and start to pet her head, causing her eyes to widen before she closed them and lean into my hand. Making me wonder if they think that their cats looking for affection. The sight of this is bringing a bigger smile to Laylas face while a frown appeared on Judes face.
After spending a day keeping the egg warm, it starts to shake and cracks start to form on the egg. Everyone was getting excited at what is happening as the cracks spread across the egg.
A bright light shone as the egg broke apart, when the light dies down it reveals a black kitten with two tails and white wings flying in the air.
Kitten:"Nya."
Everyone had looks of astonishment as they see the kitten flys up above my head and lands on it.
Lucy:"It looks so cute!"
Brandish:"And so Fluffy!"
All the maids were squealing over how cute the kitten is as I pick it up and hold the furball in my arms. When I notice that the kitten is female with two tails and hazel-gold eyes, reminding me of a certain nekoshou.
Me:"From now on your name is Kuroka. How does that sound?" I asked the kitten.
Kitten:"Nya!" she said as she nuzzled into my arms and started purring.
Layla:"I think she likes that name."
Gramy:"I think so too."
I chuckled inwardly when she said that, making me think of the flying cat that wears a frog onesie.
That is when the exceed known as Kuroka came to be born in Earthland.

Third POV
At the same time, Cait Shelter guild
In the guild known as Cait Shelter, infront of a blue haired girl named Wendy Marvel, an egg with a white pattern on it had hatched. From the egg, hatched a small female white kitten with a sour look on her face. The white kitten was given the name "Carla."
While everyone in the guild was thinking about how cute the kitten was, the same kitten was having visions. Visions of a world called Edolas, that was losing magic power and about a mad king yelling "all for the sake of Edolas." and a queen talking about a threat known as the dragon slayers.
Carla:'Is this a mission to eliminate the dragon slayers?' she thought to herself.
Due to just being born, she did not understand what these visions mean. So in order to make sense of the visions, she convinced herself that it was part of a mission given to her from the exceed queen.
Carla:'But is it possible to even defeat the dragon slayers?' she thought with concern.
Among the visions, she noticed a figure with white hair with dragonic features able to perform extraordinary feats using his magic. And by his side was a humanoid figure wearing a kimono with cat ears, two tails and white wings reminding her of an exceed. She could clearly see how powerful these figures were, so she had doubts about if this mission was really a good idea in the first place.
Especially if she is not strong enough to fight someone who is as strong as the figures in her vision. Though she does wonder why one of those figures remind her of an exceed.
The visions she's seen have left her with more questions then answers.

Albion POV
It has been 3 days since Kuroka hatched from her egg, she is already gotten the hang of flying with [aera magic]. I believe that Exceeds are born already knowing how to use their wings. She already started speaking too, Exceeds grow fast huh.
When she grows a little more, I will teach her [elemental magic], [illusion magic] and [transformation magic] inside the [training gate]. I will teach her hand-to-hand combat as well to make sure she can handle herself in case she can't use magic.
Perhaps I should teach her how to use ärm as well, to give her more options at her disposal. Though, I may have to check to see if any of the ärm are compatible with her. I would also train her to increase her maximum magic power.
Since she is young, her body and magic power should become stronger quickly. As I was Immersed in my thoughts, I noticed a little black furball land on my shoulder.
Kuroka:"You ok nya?" she asked with a look of curiosity.
Me:"I was just thinking of what I should teach you to make you stronger."
Kuroka:"Do I really have to get stronger nya?"
Me:"Yes, there may be times where I won't be there to protect you. It is best that you have a way to defend yourself." I explained to the Kuroka.
Kuroka:"Can't I just run?" she asked
Me:"You could try, but there might be times where running is not an option. Your enemies won't give you the chance to run. For example, what if someone uses magic to send each of us to different locations where more then a dozen enemies are waiting for us at each location."
When I gace that example, Kuroka then had a look of contemplation, likely thinking of what were to happen if something like that were to happen. After about a minute of thinking, she had a look of fear on her face since if she didn't have the magic of fighting skills to protect herself, she would be in grave danger.
Kuroka:"I don't want that to happen." I hear her mutter before she continuted. "So if I get stronger, I won't be in that kind of danger?" she asked.
Me:"There will alwas be some kind of danger, but if you have the strength to take care of your self if it comes down to it."
Kuroka:"Alright, I will get stonger nya." she said with resolve.
Me:"Good, but I am still considering how to train you. Once I have a plan, I will begin your training." I said to her as she nodded in response.
Brandish:"Come here fluffy kitty!" I hear her say as she runs towards us, or more specifically, toward Kuroka.
Kuroka:"Gotta go nya!" she yelled as she flew away in a hurry.
I chuckled at their interaction, watching Kuroka trying not to get cuddled to death by smiling Brandish. Seeing Brandish smile like this is better then seeing her look with an apathetic look on her face. Luckly, since her mother wasn't killed by Zoldeo in this timeline, so she should have a happier personality then in canon.
She should learn [command T magic], Should she learn [celestial spirit magic] as well? In the original timeline, she becomes a member of the Spriggan 12. would she still join them after not losing her mother? Alikatashia is her mothers homeland if I remember correctly, so they may return there.
Should Brandish join Fairy Tail or another guild on ishgar, or should she stay in Alikitashia and become a member of the Spriggan 12. She did see the wizard king August as a grandfather to her after her mother died.
Also, what if I told Zeref that he has a real blood related child, since Zeref didn't know that August was his son because no one, not even August told him. That is a question for future me to solve. For now I have have to complete [celestial law] and prepare for torus.
