บท 12: Manga Discussion at the Dinner Table
That evening, the Carval family gathered around the dinner table to enjoy their meal together. Eldric looked at his family with a satisfied smile. Seeing their reactions to the manga he had created made him feel that his efforts were not in vain.
Roland looked serious, still unable to believe that the Naruto manga ended in the middle of the story, and he had to wait for the next volume. Liora was busy telling Myra about her favorite scenes from Your Name. Meanwhile, Lumi was still holding her Doraemon manga tightly, eagerly telling everyone how Doraemon used his magical tools to help Nobita.
"Dad, why did you stop at the most exciting part?" Roland complained, glancing at Eldric with a slightly annoyed expression. "Naruto just mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu, and suddenly it's over? When will Volume 2 be ready, Dad?"
Eldric chuckled softly and set down his fork. "Roland, I've just finished three mangas in a short amount of time. Giving you all that reading experience alone was tiring enough."
"But, Dad…" Roland tried to respond, but Eldric raised his hand to stop him.
"Don't worry," Eldric said with a smile. "I'll start on Volume 2 for all the mangas, except Your Name."
Liora, who had been sipping her juice, nearly choked. "What do you mean, Dad? There's no Volume 2 for Your Name?" she asked, her voice tinged with disappointment.
Eldric nodded gently. "Your Name is a standalone story. It was meant to conclude at the end of Volume 1. The story of Taki and Mitsuha has reached its best conclusion, according to me."
"But, Dad…" Liora looked a bit disappointed but also tried to understand.
Eldric continued with a knowing smile. "But don't worry, Liora. I know you enjoy romance genres. So, I'm planning a new manga with romantic elements, a story just as touching, but with a different setting and characters."
Liora's eyes lit up at the news. "Really, Dad? There will be romance again?"
"Of course," Eldric replied, nodding. "But you'll have to be patient. I need time to finish everything. After all, it wouldn't be fair if I only focused on your favorite genre."
Roland rolled his eyes. "What about Naruto? That's more important, Dad."
Lumi, who had been chewing her food, suddenly interrupted. "Doraemon needs a new story too! Lumi wants to know what magical tools Doraemon has next!"
Eldric laughed heartily, feeling happy with his family's enthusiasm. "Alright, alright. I'll work hard to continue everything. But remember, I need time. You all have to be patient, okay?"
Everyone nodded in unison, though still holding onto great expectations. The atmosphere that evening was warm, with the conversation flowing freely about the mangas they were reading.
In his heart, Eldric knew that this family was not just the first audience for his work, but also the source of motivation for him to keep creating new entertainment that would change the world.
