"Then death it is," he declared resolutely, catching the girl off guard. "I would choose you every day, even in the afterlife."
Atasha's eyes, lips, and insides quivered. Her entire being trembled as though an icy bucket had been upended upon her.
"You can't be serious," she retorted wryly along with the skepticism that was etching her features.
How could he decide so casually?
Hadn't he despised his mother for her selfishness and cruelty? Atasha remained unconvinced; an inexplicable anxiety gnawed at her.
