He looked at 'Lan Waihu,' who was beside him to gauge her response to the situation. Her face was visibly pale as well; it seemed like she was surprised by the place as well.

"Don't be afraid; I will protect you." He held Lan Waihu's little hand as he spoke.

Lan Waihu bit her lip and looked at him with tears rolling in her eyes, "Will you dislike me after seeing all that my family has done?"

"No, it has nothing to do with you." Yan Chen rubbed her hair and assured her.

Lan Waihu leaned into his arms and spoke softly, "I am still terrified..."

"What are you afraid of?"

"I am afraid that your friends will not be able to accept me once this has been exposed." 

Yan Chen was not very good at lying, even when he needed to comfort someone. He was silent for a while before he replied, "This matter has nothing to do with you. If they really can't accept you, I will run away with you to stay away from any troubles."
