With nothing left to do, we simply waited for the time to pass by while I spent most of it cultivating in my room, and while Illumia entered my room a few times, seemingly trying to tempt me with her sexiness, she wasn't Elaine, so it was rather easy to ignore her, and thankfully, she wasn't a pervert either.
Since we had all exited the dimensional rift within six hours, we had to wait sixty-six hours until the rifts would close, and during that time, people constantly exited from the rifts; for the first day, mainly those with a prominent background exited from the dimension along with the occasional independent cultivator. However, it wasn't around until the halfway point that only independent cultivators exited from the rifts, and the more time that passed, the more they continued to exit, yet eventually, the end of the third day arrived.
"Mhm, you've gotten really good at massaging, Marley." Muttered Elif lightly, sitting outside his carriage while Marley stood behind him, massaging his shoulders with her technique.
"Well, I practice on Sarah quite a lot." Said Marley with a faint smile while glancing at Elif, staring at his gorgeous face, causing her heart to beat rapidly as she leaned down with puckered lips.
Unfortunately for Marley, she wasn't able to kiss me as Elder Axzul suddenly appeared, and with a wave of her hand, she suddenly closed the dimensional rifts, causing me to raise an eyebrow as I scanned the remaining people who managed to survive.
'Ho, there were roughly sixty-four thousand people here initially, but now there is only twelve-thousand; more than I expected.' Mused Elif with a raised eyebrow as he used his divine sense to observe the survivors of the elimination round.
Now that Elder Axzul had arrived, I opened my eyes, looking right at Marley, who was a few inches from kissing me, causing her to blush slightly while I simply shook my head and ignored her, shifting my focus toward Axzul.
"To those of you who survived, congratulations." Said Axzul with a faint smile as she waved her hand, causing several hundred bottles to suddenly appear from her dimension ring, before pointing her palm towards the crowd below.
Watching Axzul give everyone a pill, me included, she waited a few moments, allowing the wounded and exhausted to feel its effects as it healed them before continuing with her speech.
"Now, it's time for the second test. Follow me." Stated Axzul softly as she glanced at everyone before slicing her hand down, causing a large tear in space to appear while she flew right into it.
"Well, let us follow her." Said Elif lightly as he stood up, storing his throne in his dimension ring before leaping onto the front of his carriage with Marley following suit.
Once we were ready, I reached forward and gave Zulo a light slap on the butt, causing her to neigh as she and Zala pulled the carriage, flying towards the spatial tear Elder Axzul had created.
"What do you think the next test will be, your Highness?" Asked Marley curiously as she glanced at Elif, who wrapped his arm around her shoulder while slightly embracing her.
"No idea, Marley; your guess is as good as mine." Replied Elif calmly as he shook his head while Marley silently enjoyed his embrace.
Passing through the spatial tear, we traveled through a dark pathway through the OverRealm void, which was much less dangerous than the Void between realms, while heading towards the white glow on the other side. After passing through the white light, we emerged back into the OverRelam, yet we were in a different location, and given what our surroundings looked like, I could only assume we were deep within the sect building.
We were inside one of the many courtyards, and compared to before, it was absolutely filled with disciples of the Realm Sect, though they were all standing toward the sides, just watching us from a distance, causing me to raise an eyebrow as my curiosity about the second test grew. Once everyone passed onto this side of the spatial tear, it vanished while Elder Axzul waved her hands upwards, causing the cloudy sky to suddenly part as the sunlight bore down, yet to everyone's surprise, the light illuminated numerous ethereal steps, glistening in a multitude of colors that lead towards the sky.
"Beautiful." Muttered Marley lightly while gazing at the ethereal steps while Elif nodded in agreement, only for him to narcissistically smirk, yet before he could do anything, Elder Axzul spoke.
"This shall be your next test; out of the hundred steps, you must make it to seventy." Said Elder Axzul calmly as she gestured towards the translucent steps while floating to the side with a slightly eager look.
Just like before, Elder Axzul gave no further information other than what our task was, causing me to glance at her before shaking my head as I gracefully landed on the ground beside Mandy while the door to my carriage opened, prompting Ember, Sarah, Idonea, and Illumia to exit.
"Hundred Steps to Heaven." Said Illumia, her words causing them to all look at her in curiosity, prompting her to elaborate further.
"Those steps are called Hundred Steps to Heaven, and it's believed that if one can walk all one hundred steps, they'll become a true Immortal. Of course, whether it's true or not doesn't matter since no one has ever reached that far; even her Majesty only managed to reach the ninetieth step before collapsing, with his Majesty being the same." Added Illumi solemnly as she glanced at the ethereal steps before looking at Elif, Idonea, Marley, Sarah, and Ember.
"Eh, even their Majesties only reached the ninetieth step!?" Exclaimed Sarah in slight surprise as she widened her eyes while gazing at the ethereal steps behind her.
"If both Mother and Father reached the same step, I'm assuming they don't differentiate between cultivation bases as Mother is slightly superior to Father in that regard." Said Elif with a raised eyebrow as he folded his arms and glanced at Illumia, who nodded.
"Yes, you're correct, your Highness. Those steps don't take one's cultivation base into account; only the strength of one's dao heart matters; those with a weak dao heart will not make it far, as you can see." Stated Illumia as she glanced at Elif before gesturing toward the steps in the distance, which were already being walked upon.
Just as Illumia said, one of the non-independent cultivators was currently walking up the steps with an arrogant expression, making it look easy, which caused several others to follow in his stead, yet once he reached the fiftieth step he slowed, and each succeeding step afterward only further slowed him down with his arrogance nowhere to be seen. By the time he reached the sixty-second step, he was practically crawling, and he could only make it two more steps before he could no longer move.
However, even though he didn't make it, his actions sparked many others to walk up the steps, and hundreds began to do so; one thing I noticed was, despite having a lower cultivation base, independent cultivators, on average, managed to reach roughly eight steps higher than their counterparts who all had an impressive background compared to their peers. Of course, when one thought about it, it only made sense; Independent cultivators were forced to survive in the harsh world of the OverRealm, constantly risking their lives while these young masters and mistresses stayed within their homes and peacefully cultivated without a single shred of worry.
"What step did you make it do, Illumia?" Asked Elif curiously as he glanced at Illumia, only to faintly smirk while leaning forward.
"If you happen to keep the highest record among my servants, I'll give you something special." Added Elif with a faint smirk while whispering into Illumai's ear, causing her imagination to go wild as she narrowed her eyes at Marley and Idonea.
"I made it to step eighty-seven, your Highness." Replied Illumia softly, her words causing Elif to step backward while nodding.
"You heard her, Marley, Idonea. Your goal to surpass is step eighty-seven; you best get to it; anyone who does will get a special reward from yours truly." Declared Elif with a sly smirk, his words causing Idonea and Marley's expressions to turn solemn as they ignored everything else and focused intently on the steps.
Marley and Idonea didn't say anything and merely gave each other a nod before they floated toward the steps in the distance, though while that happened, Illumia's eyes bored into the back of my head, causing me to chuckle.
"Ho, what are you doing, Ember? Why are you still standing here? Don't you also want to be my follower?" Questioned Elif with a raised eyebrow, glancing at Ember, who widened her eyes before nodding as she followed behind her superiors.
Glancing at Sarah, I was honestly a little worried if she'd make it to the seventieth step by herself, but I figured I'd help her along the way, so it should be fine, hopefully, at least.
"Shall we get going, Your Highness?" Asked Sarah with an eager smile, only for him to shake his head as he summoned his throne once more before sitting down.
"Let's wait until the end; I don't wish to walk along the steps with so many people; it can become crowded." Said Elif lightly while dismissively waving his hand, causing Sarah to nod, only for her to glance at Illumia as they both smirked.
"If that's the case, Elif, we can spend alone time in the carriage. Just you, me, and sister Illumia." Said Sarah softly as she whispered her words into Elif's ear, causing him to raise an eyebrow before he faintly smiled while standing up.
"A pair of lustful concubines, you two are." Remarked Elif lightly as he glanced between Illumia and Sarah while entering his carriage with them, smacking Mandy's butt along the way.
