If they were not killed outright, they would lose their cultivation, and someone would replace them. Fighting was a no-no. Even the Storm Dream Patriarch knew his limits. 

If they lost their cultivation, it would be even worse than dying for the Human Matriarch. She had ruled over the humans by force. Even though the humans liked her rule and even though all humans were very happy under her rule, if she lost her powers, she could bet her life that she would be raped that day.

Human nature was indeed so. If they had enough benefits, they might even kill their children. At least, the Matriarch believed so. But she didn't care; it was her race, her species, and there would always be good when there was terrible… like light in the darkness. 

For one, the boy Ethan and his girlfriend Scarlett didn't hesitate to put their life on the line to save a stranger.
