บท 33: Magic materialization
The tournament concluded anti-dramatically with Dai forcefully overwhelming Goku not because he was a better martial artist but because he was simply stronger than him.
Both of them were not able to fight to their fullest potential as Goku had to adapt to Dai's fighting style which made him wear out much faster than he was supposed to.
Goku didn't even have the chance to use his super Kamehameha.
And although as strange as it sounds Dai also was not able to go all out because of the rules of the tournament. No weapons allowed. So Dai decided not to use a few magic tricks that he learned from Baba because of the potential of being disqualified.
After losing to Goku for the first time because he could not get close to him Dai somehow wanted to get his hands on a weapon that is similar to the one that Goku used.
The power pole, an unbreakable pole that can extend its length to reach which makes it a dangerous weapon when used by someone with a powerful body that can allow him to perform superhuman feats.
Although Goku decided not to use that weapon anymore as he had no reason to Dai thought differently.
Having a weapon is better than fighting barehanded in Dai's mind if the weapon is something as durable as the power pole.

Two years ago.
"Why do you want to know more about that weapon anyway? Didn't I tell you it was just a rod that connected the tower to the place where Kami lived?" a short pink-haired old lady in a witch's outfit said to Dai. She was the fortune teller Baba.
"I am sorry. After losing to him in a way that didn't even let me use my strength properly I can't get that weapon out of my head. Even though I grew strong enough to the point that I might not need it anymore I am still interested in it." Dai said to Baba.
"A weapon. It is not a bad Idea. Why don't you try learning magic materialization? You might be able to create a weapon that can evaluate your fighting skills to another level." A blue man that possesses two horns, a tail and a pair of wings said to Dai. His name was Spike the devilman and he was the fighter that Baba hired for her protection and the one that is currently sparring with Dai occasionally during his training under Baba.
"Magic materialization?" Dai asked Spike.
"Here Look," Spike said as he created a Trident out of thin air in his hands.
"... Does that mean if I learn Magic Materialization I will be able to create a staff like the one that Goku possesses?" Dai asked.
"No. That stuff is created by Kami himself so I doubt you would be able to create it even if you train magic under Spike for ten years. Even Spike could not create an item like that." Baba said to Dai as she told him about the creator of the power pole.
"And although using magic will not affect your ki and stamina you still need mana to perform magic. And it also seems that a great deal of magic was imbued into that pole so I doubt a novice like Spike who only uses magic to create weapons and other tools would be able to recreate something similar to that pole." Baba said.
"Then can you teach me?" Dai asked.
"I could teach you to the point you can understand basics but I still need more than three years to teach you to the point you would be able to create magic imbued items," Baba said to Dai.
"Then just teach me basics. I will figure out a way to recreate the weapon by myself." Dai said.
"Fine," Baba said as she extended her hands towards him.
"What?" Dai asked.
"Extra Payment. Do you think I would teach you my magic for free?" Baba said to Dai.
"Didn't I already give you 2 million Zeni that I won from fights to train me?" Dai said to Baba.
"This and that are different matters," Baba replied causing Dai's expression to turn sour.
Although even after three years Dai was not able to recreate the power pole he was still proficient in the basics of magic as he could buff himself and create items and weapons that could help him in fights.
