บท 7: Chapter-7 Acceptance as a Disciple

The old man handed me the bow and told me to follow him. As Hun Yu and the old man were walking away from the river, the old man suddenly turned to Hun Yu and asked, "What's your name?"

"Hun Yu," he replied.

"Hun Yu," the old man repeated with a hint of disdain in his voice. "It's not much of a name, but it'll do I suppose."

Hun Yu felt a sting of anger at the old man's dismissive tone, but he kept his cool and replied, "I prefer to let my actions speak for me, rather than my name."

The old man raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Is that so? Well, let's see if you can live up to your words, Hun Yu."

Hun Yu stood tall and met the old man's gaze. "I will, sir."

The old man sniffed dismissively. "We'll see about that. In this world, only the strong survive. And strength doesn't come from just having a gift, it comes from using it effectively and constantly improving. Don't let your abilities go to waste, Hun Yu."

Hun Yu took a deep breath, trying to ignore the old man's harsh words. "I won't, sir. I will do my best to become the best version of myself."

The old man simply grunted and continued walking, leaving Hun Yu to follow behind. Despite the old man's arrogance, Hun Yu couldn't help but feel a twinge of gratitude for the lesson he had just taught him. He vowed to use it to fuel his determination and never give up on his dreams, no matter the odds. we arrived at a river. He then asked me to shoot a fish in the river with the bow and arrow. At first, I thought it would be easy, but then I realized that because of my blindness, it would be difficult to shoot a fish in the river. I focused all of my senses on the fish and after an hour, I finally shot an arrow. The arrow pierced the water and hit its target, the fish. The old man, who was sitting near the river, was a little amazed when he saw this, but he quickly regained his composure and stood up, walking towards me.

"How strong are your senses?" he suddenly asked.

"My senses are strong," I replied. "I can hear a person's heartbeat just by focusing my senses on their body."

The old man looked at me with surprise. "Really?" he asked. "Can you demonstrate this for me?"

I agreed and the old man took a few steps back. I closed my eyes and focused all of my attention on his body, listening carefully for the sound of his heartbeat. After a few moments, I could hear it clearly, a steady rhythmic thumping.

The old man was clearly impressed. "That's incredible," he said. "I've never seen or heard of anything like it before."

"Thank you," I replied, feeling proud of my ability. "I've learned to control and focus my senses over the years, and I believe that I can use them to my advantage."

"Don't get ahead of yourself," the old man said gruffly. "Your gift is something, but it's a far cry from what the warrior I'm thinking of possessed. Admirable determination and focus? That's just the bare minimum. You have a long way to go if you want to even come close to comparing yourself to that warrior."

"Thank you," I said, feeling inspired by his words. "I hope that I can live up to your expectations."

The old man snorted. "Expectations? I have no expectations, boy. Only results matter in this world. And you better start producing results if you want to survive." He turned and started walking away, not bothering to look back. "Come on, we have much to do and very little time. You have a lot of training to do if you want to survive in this world."

"After this encounter, I approached the old man and asked if I could become his disciple. The old man looked at me skeptically and replied, "Do you really think you have what it takes to be my student? I demand nothing but the best from those who wish to learn under me."

I was taken aback by his bluntness but remained determined. "I am willing to do whatever it takes to become your disciple, sir," I said firmly.

The old man nodded, a hint of a smile crossing his face. "Very well," he said. "But be warned, the path to mastery is a difficult one. I will give you one week to prove yourself worthy. If at the end of that time, you have not improved significantly, I will have no choice but to send you on your way."

I nodded, not backing down from the challenge. "I understand, sir," I said. "What do I need to do?"

"You must hit your target in less than five minutes," the old man said sternly. "I will return in one week's time to see if you have accomplished this feat. If you have not, then you are not ready to be my student."

With that, the old man turned and walked away, leaving me to begin my training. I was determined to prove myself to the old man and become his disciple. Over the next few days, I focused all of my energy on honing my skills and practicing with the bow and arrow. I listened carefully to the sounds of the river and the movements of the fish, becoming more and more attuned to my surroundings with each passing day.

The day of the old man's return arrived, and I was a bundle of nerves. I stood before him, bow and arrow in hand, ready to prove my worth.

The old man looked at me critically, studying my posture and demeanor. "Well, Hun Yu," he said, "let's see what you've got."

I took a deep breath and aimed at the target. I let the arrow fly, watching as it hit its mark in just under five minutes.

The old man raised an eyebrow, looking impressed despite himself. "Well done, Hun Yu," he said grudgingly. "It seems you have exceeded my expectations. But do not let this momentary success go to your head. The path to mastery is long and difficult, and I will not tolerate anything less than your best effort."

I nodded, grateful for the old man's approval. "I will do my best, sir," I said, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment.

The old man nodded, looking pleased. "Good," he said. " From this day forward, you are my disciple."

With that, the old man turned and walked away, leaving me to bask in the glory of my success. Despite the old man's harsh words and demanding ways, I was eager to continue my journey under his tutelage, eager to reach new heights and become a great soul master.
