บท 38: Chapter 38: My Lady, You Don’t Want Anything to Happen to Xiao Wu, Do You?

"Let go of me!"

Xiao Wu shouted, her voice trembling. Perhaps it was because the Heavenly Palace Mirage Zhou Yi had previously cast had left an indelible mark deep within her heart.

Xiao Wu didn't use any soul skills.

The two of them looked as though they were simply playing around.

"Little bunny, look at this," Zhou Yi said, retrieving a Transformation Pill. The dense medicinal aroma filled the air, causing Xiao Wu to freeze in place, her gaze locking onto the pill with burning intensity.

Though she didn't recognize what it was, as a soul beast, her instincts told her one thing:

Every cell in her body yearned for it.

Consume it.

Consume it.

"What is this?" Xiao Wu asked, swallowing hard as she fought the overwhelming urge to devour it.

"This is a Transformation Pill. It allows you to assume human form without losing your cultivation!" Zhou Yi said casually.

With just those simple words, Xiao Wu's eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

A hundred-thousand-year soul beast could indeed transform into human form.

But doing so meant losing all their strength and starting cultivation anew.

If this pill truly had such an effect, it was nothing short of miraculous.

Her body's intense craving made her believe that it was likely genuine.

"What do you want from me?" Xiao Wu asked, her gaze full of longing as she stared at the pill. Though her desire was undeniable, she wasn't naïve—after living for tens of thousands of years, she knew that nothing came without a price.

"Be my wife!" Zhou Yi grinned.

Xiao Wu hesitated briefly before replying, "Alright!"

Her agreement wasn't just for the pill; Zhou Yi's actions had already left an unshakable impression in her heart.

He had even flipped her over…

For days now, her mind had been consumed with thoughts of Zhou Yi, her appetite and peace of mind utterly disrupted.

So, when she sensed his arrival, she had immediately come running—just to see him.

"As expected of the leader of the Star Dou Forest, you're so decisive!" Zhou Yi laughed.

Soul beasts were indeed different from humans—far less reserved and hesitant.

"Here, open your mouth," Zhou Yi said, placing the Transformation Pill into Xiao Wu's mouth.

"Stop right there!"

At that moment, a sharp voice rang out.

With a burst of fierce wind, a long and graceful leg swept down toward Zhou Yi's face.

"Damn!" Zhou Yi tilted his head, narrowly avoiding the strike as the leg brushed past his cheek, sending a powerful gust that stung his face.

"凸(艸皿艸)!"

Zhou Yi was furious. "You don't hit someone in the face!" he growled, drawing his sword in a sudden slash.

Boom!

An overwhelming wave of sword energy erupted, splitting the air as though to sever the world itself. The terrifying force instantly sent the assailant flying.

"Mother!"

Xiao Wu exclaimed just as she swallowed the Transformation Pill. She watched as her mother was struck and sent flying, her expression full of concern.

Before she could explain, the powerful medicinal effects of the pill erupted. A brilliant crimson light burst forth from her body, enveloping her entirely.

Xiao Wu's mother, Yan Rou, leaped into the air, her nine soul rings shining brilliantly as she charged forward again.

However, as her gaze fell upon Xiao Wu's transformation, she froze in her tracks.

"Xiao Wu!"

Yan Rou's beautiful eyes flashed with a mix of worry for Xiao Wu and seething anger toward Zhou Yi.

"You bastard! What did you do to Xiao Wu?" she demanded, her voice trembling with rage.

For days, she had noticed Xiao Wu acting distracted and preoccupied, so she had secretly followed her.

But she never expected to see this—a human holding her daughter and feeding her some unknown pill.

It was outrageous.

"What did I do?" Zhou Yi muttered as he appraised Yan Rou. He had to admit, Xiao Wu's mother was far more alluring—mature, voluptuous, and exuding a cold yet soft demeanor that stirred a wicked urge to bully her senseless.

"Could it be the lingering influence of Wei Wu's legacy or the spirit of Cao the Traitor at work?"

As Zhou Yi gazed at Yan Rou's graceful, enchanting figure, he tightened his grip on the Frost-Defying Sword, a wicked grin spreading across his face like a classic villain.

"What do you think?" he asked.

"I'll kill you!"

Yan Rou, believing Zhou Yi had poisoned Xiao Wu, erupted in fury. Her nine Soul Rings shone brilliantly, their dazzling radiance illuminating her as she unleashed her power.

"Fifth Soul Skill: Gentle Bone Bind."

This control-type ability allowed her to immobilize her opponent with her flexible body. Unless one's Soul Power exceeded hers by at least five ranks, breaking free was impossible—and even then, it would take at least five seconds.

Judging by Zhou Yi's youthful appearance, Yan Rou was confident his Soul Power couldn't surpass hers. If she could trap him, escape would be out of the question.

Despite her rage and threats of violence, Yan Rou didn't truly intend to kill Zhou Yi.

It wasn't out of kindness.

Rather, it was because Xiao Wu had consumed something Zhou Yi had given her. Yan Rou needed Zhou Yi alive to extract the antidote.

In an instant, her long, slender legs lashed out like unyielding whips—or perhaps venomous serpents—locking around Zhou Yi's neck. At the same time, her delicate hands pinned his arms, her entire body pressing him down, completely restraining him.

Zhou Yi made no attempt to resist.

After all, even though Yan Rou was a Titled Douluo, even though her fifth Soul Skill, Gentle Bone Bind, was powerful, it was impossible for her to hold him if he chose to fight back.

Of course, Zhou Yi wasn't someone who surrendered to beautiful women on sight.

Despite his current predicament, everything was still under his control.

He had techniques up his sleeve. For instance, his "Soul-Severing Calamity" could severely damage Yan Rou's soul and free him in an instant.

But Zhou Yi was, by nature, a man of great patience and an exceptional gentleman. He generally avoided fighting women—especially beautiful ones.

Fighting wasn't civilized.

He preferred less violent measures.

"Human, tell me—what did you do to Xiao Wu?" Yan Rou glared coldly at Zhou Yi, her voice commanding as she looked down at him.

"If you release Xiao Wu, I'll spare your life and let you leave."

"Alright... alright..." Zhou Yi murmured, lifting his head to meet Yan Rou's gaze, his tone faint and ambiguous.

"At least you know what's good for you," Yan Rou scoffed inwardly, relieved. She had thought Zhou Yi, despite his handsome appearance, was a coward. He was weak, someone who bullied the weak but feared the strong.

She hadn't even exerted her full strength, yet Zhou Yi had already capitulated.

"Alright... so fair..." Zhou Yi's voice trailed off as Yan Rou froze. Following his gaze, she looked down—and her pale cheeks flushed crimson.

"Scoundrel!" she hissed, flustered and furious.

Twisting her body to avoid his gaze, she tightened her grip on his arm. Her voice turned icy and threatening:

"Boy, if you don't want to suffer, hand over the antidote. Otherwise, I'll make you wish for death!"

Zhou Yi, seemingly regretful that he couldn't continue admiring the sight, kept his gentle smile. Despite being restrained, he appeared entirely unperturbed.

Yan Rou frowned, unease creeping into her heart. Could this young man still have a trump card?

She knew that talented young Soul Masters were often accompanied by powerful protectors. For someone as monstrous as Zhou Yi, it wouldn't be surprising if a Titled Douluo guarded him from the shadows.

The thought made her panic.

"Boy, don't think you can stall for time. Hand over the antidote immediately, or I'll kill you!" Yan Rou threatened, her voice sharp and commanding.

"If you kill me, Xiao Wu will endure seventy-seven days of torment, her body gradually rotting away until she dies," Zhou Yi replied calmly, deciding to toy with Xiao Wu's protective yet fiery mother for a bit.

Yan Rou's body trembled. She couldn't bear to imagine such a fate.

"Do you think I won't kill you?" Her voice hardened, and her grip tightened, nearly dislocating Zhou Yi's arm.

"Go ahead," Zhou Yi said with a mischievous smile. "Torture me as much as you like. Let's see if I'll crumble under your oppressive might."

Meeting Yan Rou's anxious gaze, Zhou Yi suddenly shouted:

"I'm not afraid to die! What about you?"

Boom!

His voice thundered like divine lightning in Yan Rou's mind, leaving her momentarily dazed. Her grip slackened, and her limbs instinctively released Zhou Yi.

Yan Rou wasn't afraid of death, but the thought of harm befalling Xiao Wu was her Achilles' heel.

Her resolve crumbled, and she slumped onto Zhou Yi, vulnerable and helpless.

Though still physically restrained beneath her, Zhou Yi exuded an overwhelming aura of dominance, as if he were looking down upon Yan Rou from the heavens.

"My lady," Zhou Yi said softly, his voice dripping with authority, "you wouldn't want anything to happen to Xiao Wu, would you?"
