With the threat of further attacks from nomadic groups looming large, the combined community wasted no time in reaching out to other survivor groups in the surrounding areas. Zhao Yi, along with a group of the community's most skilled diplomats and negotiators, set out on a series of journeys to make contact and propose a coalition for mutual protection.
Their first stop was a small settlement nestled in a forested area. The people there had managed to survive by relying on hunting and foraging, but they were constantly on edge due to the ever-present danger of raids. When Zhao Yi explained the idea of a coalition and shared stories of how the combined community had overcome various challenges through unity and the use of technology, the forest settlement's leaders were intrigued.
They were especially impressed by the demonstrations of the communication devices and the security systems that the community had developed. It became clear that joining forces could offer them a level of safety and stability they hadn't experienced before. After a few days of discussions, negotiations, and sharing of resources as a show of good faith, the forest settlement agreed to become part of the coalition.
Next, they visited a group that had taken refuge in an old factory complex. This group was known for its mechanical skills and had managed to keep some machinery running, which they used to manufacture basic tools and weapons. Initially, they were hesitant, fearing that they might lose their independence or that the coalition would demand too much from them in return for protection.
Zhao Yi addressed their concerns patiently. He explained that the coalition would be based on equality and mutual benefit. Each group would contribute according to its strengths and receive support in areas where they were lacking. For example, the factory group could share their mechanical expertise with others, while benefiting from the combined community's farming knowledge and access to renewable energy.
Slowly, the factory group warmed up to the idea. They saw the potential in having a united front against common threats and joined the coalition as well.
Over the following weeks, more and more survivor groups were convinced to come on board. There were those from coastal areas who had mastered fishing and had a wealth of knowledge about marine resources, and others from mountainous regions with skills in mining and working with metals.
As the coalition grew, Zhao Yi worked on developing a centralized communication and coordination system. He created a software platform that would allow all the groups to share information instantly, report threats in real-time, and plan joint defense strategies. The platform also had a resource management module, where each group could list the supplies and skills they had available, making it easier to distribute resources fairly and efficiently during times of need.
The coalition held regular meetings, with representatives from each group coming together to discuss matters ranging from improving security to sharing technological advancements. They organized joint training exercises for their defense forces, teaching each other different combat techniques and strategies.
However, integrating so many different groups with their own cultures and ways of doing things wasn't without its challenges. There were occasional disputes over resource allocation and differences in opinions about how to handle certain threats. But through open communication and mediation by the leaders, these issues were gradually resolved.
With the coalition now a formidable force in the region, the combined community and its new allies felt more confident in facing the uncertainties of the post-apocalyptic world. They knew that together they could build a stronger, safer future, and they were committed to making the coalition work, come what may.
