"Uhh?" Kristen asked once the story was over, unable to form another word.
"Unbelievable, right? It would be for any human." The old lady smiled fondly as she remembered her son.
"N-no, but why did you choose the Devil? It was that easy to keep closed eyes on god with just one deal?"
She didn't know if the lady was joking around because who can casually talk about Devil with no fear? Like how can a human adopt Devil as their own son? If there was no hidden agenda behind it, was Devil such a soft-hearted person to go for adoption? Kristen wanted to laugh it off but the old lady's face showed so much sincerity that she had to believe every words.
"God never listens, dear. I am still a devotee but sometimes to get what you desperately want, you have to make compromises." She explained.
"I can say it didn't even feel like a deal to us. He just gave us a family, a very loving and dependable one. I had forever be thankful to him." She continued.
"H-how did your husband die?' Kristen asked a little worried as she was still not convinced.
"He died of a heart attack. Old people." She laughed a little before continuing."He asked for Lucy before his death, not even me or our son."
"Hmm. I am sorry."
"It is fine, I just wanted to let you know that help can come from anyway and all you have to do is give it a chance."
"H-he is still with you?" She asked suddenly remembering that was the only reason for her to be on Earth.
How easy would it be if he is still around her? Kristen knew that she had to keep an eye on the lady so she just brushed her hands against the other's cold ones. Now she can keep an eye on her, perks of being an Angel.
"I wish, but not anymore. He had to leave a few months ago."
"Where to? When will he come back?" Kristen asked, her hands fidgeting as her curiosity hit the spot.
"To hell, where else can he go? There were some issues happening back then and he left saying he had come back for me."
"Jerk, went back to ruin my wedding." Kristen cursed under her breath which the old woman couldn't hear.
"He will surely return for me."
"How sure are you? He didn't mention when he had come back?" She asked again knowing the devil was still roaming on earth.
"Very soon. I just have to trust him."
"I t-think it is the best to move on without keeping much hope. Celestial beings cannot always keep words." She warned knowing the man was probably ruining some part of the world.
"He is my son, he would not lie to me. I know him well enough to trust him. People who have not been with him, just judge him. The name Devil itself is enough for that, right?"
She must have got that a lot, that is what Kristen thought. She kind of felt a little bad because the first person who kindly spoke to her would not be able to meet her son. Kristen just had three months to end him and that would be the end of the old lady's endless hope. She cannot be weak and fall for emotions but since the time she visited Earth everyone was against God, it felt as if she ended up in hell.
Even Christian didn't seem to be happy about anything even though he act cool as if everything is fine. She could see the struggles he had and how he uses every single chance to escape. Maybe the main reason, he begs her to allow him to help her. How can everything be so messed up?
"I hope y-you meet him." She said with a pressed lip before getting up.
"I surely will, but I think you should leave now. It is too late." The old lady also said as she wiped the tears which slowly rolled down her wrinkled skin.
"You too." Kristen said when someone suddenly ran to them.
"I asked you not to go this far. You almost scared me." Christian spoke as he held her hands and checking if she was fine.
"Geeez, you scared me now. Except for that, I am totally fine."
"So is he your friend?" The lady asked with a curious smile.
"Uh, y-yea. Christian, this is Mrs.Hwang and we were just talking about random things." She awkwardly introduced him.
"Oh, Hello! My name is Christian and nice to meet you." He bowed politely with a sweet smile.
"Omo, you look like an angel." She gasped, his aura literally spreading irrespective of the fact he was drunk.
"Yeah, I guess the Angels on Earth roam around shirtless and totally drunk with love bites." Kristen scoffed, pushing the boy a little away from her.
"Still I look absolutely adorable. Isn't that right, Mrs. Hwang?" He snickered, nudging her shoulder playfully.
"I think we should leave before he passes out."
"Hope to see you someday so I can introduce you to my son. Take care you both." She caressed their hair, as a way of giving a blessing before climbing back the stairs.
"Marriage proposal?" Christian asked while croaking his eyebrows.
"Yea sure, very funny but let's laugh later. Can we please leave now?" She asked.
"Sorry not sorry but I am too drunk to drive so can we stay here for the night? It's just a few hours anyways."
"No w...."
"I booked two rooms for us so let's just sleep. I promise to take you back when I am in my senses. It is dangerous to drive like this." He cut her off in between.
"This is not fair. How can you get drunk like this?" She scolded him.
"See, I am really sorry and please don't tell this to anyone. I promise to do whatever you want, please. I didn't mean to get this drunk but i-it happened." He explained again knowing he would be done for life if someone knows about it.
"You owe me a big time for always favoring you."
"I know, my angel!"
Well, she can't lie that his lathering words were not affecting her. She was amazed at how cute he could be irrespective of the looks that he owns. He had a very defined body worth worshipping, a beautifully carved face, and the sweetest smile. Kristen mentally slapped herself for having such thoughts before following the boy to their respective room.
